I'll be honest When I saw the title, I automatically assumed mtf. Transgender dad sounds that way to me.
I think the reason most people are getting confused is they're seeing "transgender" and "dad" and automatically putting it together and get ftm. I can see that since that's something we know about here. For me I kind of knew it wasn't going to be this way because it's a less common thing. We all know that transgender is most dominated by mtf. Hate to say it but it's true. All you ever hear for transgender news is mostly dominated by mtfs. If Chaz Bono hadn't been ftm, I think people would be largely uneducated about the woman side of it.
Now I love our brothers here, but It's basically easier for a woman to become a man because of the way T affects the body. Woman cut their hair short and dress manly. When T kicks in they get deeper voices and hair on their body. Other than the top surgery, it's pretty easy to fit in.
When Men transition into woman it's harder because the E takes longer to work. Than we have to grow out the hair, learn to change your voice, remove unwanted hair, and possibly breast enhancement/ FRS.
So I can see where a network would be more inclined to show a mans transition rather than a woman. Yes a woman's transition can be hard to do as well.
It just makes more sense and this is what people think about when they hear transgender. I know eventually once being transgender is considered "fine", than the ftm role will become more established.
Kind of ironic (and sucks) that ftm still get the raw end of the deal even though for cis people it's opposite with the woman who get the discrimination.
