SRS with Dr Chett

I am schedule to have SRS and breast augmentation with Dr Chett in Oct. Can anyone give me the price and how much they spend all together with surgery, cost, hotel which one did you stay in, and also flight? thank you!!

Hi Bootifulone 

I can only give you the prices specific to my SRS with Dr Chett, Things such as flights are dependent upon where you fly from and the airline and fare class. Costs also vary but here's some numbers.

SRS is 333,000 Baht plus 32,000 Baht for skin graft (US$ 12,000)
Bangkok Rama Cottage 31 nights @ 1100 Baht = 34100 Baht (US$ 1100)
Costs which for us included buying kitchen equipment such as a Microwave and electric skillet as well as 2 new quilts and a picnic mattress 30,000 Baht (US$ 900)
Flights for 2 from Sydney to Bangkok 2 economy singles and 2 business singles US$ 4,500

You could save on costs if you can sleep on the hard beds with small quilts and don't want to equip your kitchen  but we prefer cooking our own meals and I was going to move hotels after one night back from surgery rather than try sleeping in this bed again

Once Som has received the deposit payment she will e mail you confirmation and some forms for you to check containing personal information relating to the surgery. She will ask you to check them and confirm they are correct ad send her your flight details a copy of your passport and a recent photo for their driver who meets you in the airport. She will also ask for your flight details so this is when you book your flights. You'll notice we are flying home Business Class. If you can possibly do it I'd advise it as it won't be pleasant looking forward all trip to a bad flight.

I sent my deposit this morning, my surgery is in Oct!! I am so nervous tho because I will be traveling alone. She haven't ask for my Doctors letter yet. Is that soon? And is Thailand scary?? Will be staying at the Rama hotel.

Som asked for my doctors letter before the money but that could be because my Psychiatrist was from UK and I'm now living in Australia so they wanted to be sure I had at least one before agreeing to the surgery.

Traveling alone does make it more important that you prepare well. My partner Bernadette will be posting a detailed viewpoint about the Rama in my surgery thread in the coming days as she is here with me and is making notes for her post as time goes by.

I personally love Thailand having traveled here 4 times previously and I was actually married here in Bangkok in 2001. I am certainly not fluent in any way in Thai but I know a few phrases and use them when I can. This helps the Thai's relax and they will try and understand you. Noi who I think is by far Chetts best nurse from a care point of view but maybe not experience or seniority loves teaching me new phrases so I can express myself to them when they come on daily visits. Dr Chetts staff will look after you to and from the clinic and the airport and the hotel are aware you are here for surgery so they will be careful around you when they come to clean and such. You don't have to explore anywhere you're not comfortable with. Surgery is why you've come so if you feel like staying inside the hotel for the duration of your stay you'll be safer than at home

I treated the first 4 days here as a holiday. On the day we arrived we went exploring while we exchanged our paper money for Thai Baht. My partner Bernadette isn't interested in sight seeing but we needed utensils and cooking equipment so I had an excuse to get her out into Bangkok for a few days while we found them 

As long as you do what Dr Chett asks at the appropriate times there isn't any reason why you cannot have a bit of fun at the same time

I would advise you to look further a field for the kitchen equipment. Although there is a Tesco Lotus within 500m of the hotel entrance you have to cross Pattanakarn Road and with allot of items a taxi is needed. If you pay 70 baht for a taxi to Seacom Center near Dusit Princess you have a Tesco Lotus and a Robinsons to compare prices as well as allot of other stores so you can do all the shopping and fill the taxi up.

Another piece of info concerns electric socket adapters. Provided you're not coming from US who have 110v electricity then you can buy universal power boards cheaply here with Thai plugs on and then plug your appliances into the board. You can also buy individual adapters for 49 baht each which is allot cheaper than buying them at home.
