I seriously doubt that Dr. Simon has performed more than 800 FFS already. Dr. Ousterhout performed 950 FFS from 1982, when he "invented" FFS, to 2009, when he published his book. This is 950 FFS in a period of 27 years.
Dr. Simon first approached FFS in 2007 and according to his website, he has performed about 300 FFS: http://facialteam.es/cff-equipo-quirurgico/dr-daniel-simon-es/ which is still more experience than Dr. Rossi, that's out of discussion, but very far from 800 surgeries.

It says 300 FFS from 2007 to 2010.. We are not in 2010 anymore. Anyway, they do a couple more surgeries per week than dr. Ousterhout did. They do like 4-5 per week, and dr. Bart as well.. It's like FFS factories, which is not something I personally appreciate. I prefer my surgeon and his team well-rested for my surgery...

mmmmm, you may be right. In a more updated version of the website they mention 650 FFS: facialteam.eu/facial-feminization-surgery/#dr-luis-miguel-capitan-canadas. The number grows really fast.

After the nose-casket came of Thuesday evening I could finally stroll a bit outside and went for a 3h walk Yesterday. Wonderful to get outside the appartment again. One effect from the removal of the nose-casket is that the svelling in the forehead increases a bit again. I was a bit taken aback by this as the forehead started to svell a bit more in the evening. Right now it's pretty thight over the entire forehead. Anyway, I'm meeting with Dr Di Maggio later today to have my stiches in the eyes removed. I'm looking forward to that as well as anything that brings me closer to a future, normal status. Svelling around the eyes has been going down steadily from surgery. From almost not being able to see, there's just a light svelling now. The eyes needs a lot more time though before I get a glimpse of the final expression.
I just love the nose. It so captures the whole new expression and is very well proportioned alone and with the rest of the new facial expression.
Voive has slowly started to come back, but I'm still a bit hoarse and try not to use the voice to much.
One consern that popped up the other day is border-controll on the return back. I talked to Dr Di Maggio about this and he is going to write a letter of verification if questions arise at border-controll. I just hope its enough. If not I may need to get a new passport before I leave. Anyone with similar experiences?
The stiches in the forehead wont be removed before a weeks time so I do have some time to make use of here in Buenos Aires. It shouldn't be so difficult to find something to do :-)

I didn't have any problems with border control... I asked Di Maggio for letter, just in case, but I didn't have to show it to anyone.

I also doubt it. In any case quantity does not mean quality! I see poor results, little change in patients. It is unfortunate that Dr. The go retire without having left successors to match. The few that are transforming FFS are very expensive.

I'll check with the embassy tomorrow just in case. My return is through Frankfurt which is Schengen border-controll as well so naturally they are a bit strict here. I just want to be
shure as I have a passboard with a digital photo of my previous fase(E-passboard) and it is checked by reading the pass electronically and comparing with a photo when I arrive. Ofcourse they wont match with the changes in the facial features that has taken place.

After my first FFS I looked totally different. People that knew me all of my life couldn't recognize me. Nobody seemed to care at the immigration. I don't think they even look at the photos. They just stamp the passports and that is it. Have the letter just in case.

Oh, but they do care a lot at Frankfurt airport, possessed-Its a Schengen-border as well.
I can promise you that they're thourough.
They take your photo when you arrive and compare with the on which is stored in the passboard digitally. If there's a mitchmatch I might be sent back to Buenos Aires to the Norwegian Embassy there. It's more practical to visit the embassy and clear tings up before I embark on my journey, which I visited today and received a statement that says they've made an evalutation an that I can travel back with my old passport. I can do no more now.  :) :)

Had my stiches around the eyes removed Yesterday. A scaring experience that went well.
The eyes look better everyday, actually. After the nose-casket came off on Thuesday evening I had a lot more svelling at the forehead the evening after. Luckilly, I managed to get hold of a better ice-pack and use this every hour to cool down the area. It has gone down a bit since Yesteday, but I look forward to the day when that elephant who is sitting om my forehead steps down an disappears.
Sleep is improving all the way ant that's good. From just being able to catnap during the first night at the hospital I'm now getting almost a full nights sleep and thats good.
About the incision at the forehead: I need to find some solution to cover this up properly in order to minimize a scar. Havent been much of an issue up to now actually, since I've spent most of the time inside. Hope to get my stiches removed on Monday and then there's nothing holding me back here in Buenos Aires-rebooking my flight and headning northwards on Thuesday-15 days after I got here and 12 days after surgery.

Jannicke, you look great already! Congrats! Hope you have a save flight home. When are you leaving?

Talking about my own experience. I had a long Skype Consultation with Dr. DiMaggio, like an hour and a half. It was great. It went far beyond what a Doctor would normally talk with a possible Patient. Maybe that was also because I speak fluent Spanish and I have learned throughout the years when you speak Spanish with people from South America they are going out of their way to be helpful.
I mean he even sent me pics which were taken during surgery and explained me what he would do in my case. To cut things short I immediately had the feeling that if in this moment would have been in Buenos Aires I'd had driven straight to the Clinic, phoning the Doctor on the way telling him to do his magic.
Fortunately I wasn't there. Thing is the costs of the whole procedure (two operations within 10 days) would clearly exceed my Budget and leave me with a more than serious hole in my pocket. Though heavy hearted but being responsible I called it off.
I told him that when I had enough money for this procedure I would certainly come to him and would have it done. I am right now in a fairly difficult situation. In about two months or so I have to leave my Family and go back to Germany finishing my Transition there. My Family fears for me doing my Transition here in Ecuador where I currently live. Specially after just a few days ago a transgender woman was attacked by several women and got her face cut into pieces. Thankfully this didn't happen where I live but of course this was enough for my wife to reiterate her request of transitioning in my home country.
This also implies that I had to start a new life, find an apartment, start a new Business etc., so in the end it was a no brainer for me not to do FFS at this moment. In any case I am confident enough to say that I will only have FFS with Dr. DiMaggio. He tried to convince me to still do it and offered me to pay a party now and the rest by installments. I don't know whether he did that because he likes me or what ever, but I still had to refuse simply because I don't want to start my new life with a debt. If my Business doesn't fly immediately I may run into trouble. I mean I can't always hope for the best without thinking it also could go south be prepared for it.

hugs, Greta

Hi Greta,

Glad to hear about your conversation with Dr Di Maggio. He and his team are really very dedicated, caring and skilled surgeons. I wouldn't be surprised if he and his team can do wonders in your case as they did in my case. It's really a life-changer to do FFS.
Do take care, Greta, back in Equador before you leave for Germany. It seems like the risk involved in being transgender there is far to high. To move back to Germany seems like a wice desision. Most important is your safety.
I hope to be leaving on Thuesday next week after I've removed the stiches on Monday(probably).

Do take care, Greta :-)

All the best,

Jannicke

Finally the weather turned very nice her in Buenos Aires and Deborah and I had a nice day in the city senter and Puerto Madero. I got my bandanas in order to protect the incision from sun and bought a pair of sunglasses to protect the eyes. Truly a great day in the city!
Svelling in the forehead is still very much present, but while in the appartment, I ice it down every hour. The eyes are developing nicely, but there's still coming some liquid from them at night that closes them properly. Svelling in the forehead is present just above the nose and a bit to both sides now. I guess what triggered this was the removal of the nosecast.
In general I'm pretty fit again-spent 6h out today and not tired at all.
Well, tomorrow will be a quiet day and then it's back to Dr Di Maggio on Moday to remove the stiches in the forehead(I hope) and leave Buenos Aires the day after. It's been interesting an very rewarding to be here, but I feel very much like getting back home again now.

Heading back home tomorrow... ;)

Finally, my last day here in Buenos Aires. Tomorrow is travelling day.
After another visit at the embassy in order to correct some error in the letter I received on Friday, I went to see Dr Di Maggio for the last time. Everything was fine and before I knew it the stiches in the forehead and above the addams-apple were gone. Some dissolvable ones are still left in the nose and Dr Di Maggio wondered if I wanted them out now. I declined-they will come out by themselves.
Svelling is still present in my forehead above the nose and a bit on each side. I will take some 2-4 months for it to go down. It just takes some time and I have a lot of patience.
This marks the end of the beginning of the recovery. Now starts a longer period of recovery.
It will be interesting to learn how my face will improve from here and I will be taking photos regularly in the time to come. Right now I'm very happy about my new face and feel liberated and free to do things I've never done before. FFS is truly magic if the outcome of the surgery is good.
I do hope this tread has been useful for all of you that has been reading it.
I wish you all the best in your life. May it be a happy life!
