So, I've tried to get some feedback about similar issues before, but I'll try again with a poll.
I have a blog that I use as a trans* educational medium, and also as a platform for addressing discrimination against girls and women (esp. transgender women). I've been encouraged for several months to start up a companion YouTube page, but have hesitated because I wasn't sure what I'd do with it (and also, I'm far more awkward on camera than in written form). Anyway, I've finally come to the conclusion that it's worthwhile to pursue video as a means of communication. My blog currently has the following topics:
- coming out
- violence against (transgender) women and girls
- (trans)feminism and why it's important
- information for family/ friends/ etc. about what it means (loosely) to be transgender and how that's different from being gay, for example
- bullying and suicide in transgender youth
- respecting people of various gender identities
I'm currently working on a post about consent, and will *probably* do one about trans* representation in the media after that.
Anyway, please vote, and if you have time, leave a message or PM me about what you feel is either missing or frequently misrepresented in the online trans* discourse. Keep in mind that I'll address all of these issues at some point; I'm really just looking for my "inaugural" topic.
Thanks in advance,
Ian
