Well it finally happened. A homeless man who was asking me for change was walking by and said "Mam....sir...um I mean mam...can you buy me a burrito or have some change. I didn't give but pointed to about 50 cents in change on the ground. He got it. I went on my way. I was amused to say the least. That's the first time ever that happened. From a guy no less. Could it be I'm really entering that mam,sir,mam zone?

Yes, seem like that's the reaction to your feminine impression.  I found that some people doesn't really know what is appropriate referral to use with trans person. They kindda mess us up with gay person, that's why sometime they call me sir.

Congrats! I'm also not at the stage of outright male fail most times but when presenting male now very few people use "sir"
