Ok everyone need your advice. My dad and I used to be very close. I transitioned 2yrs ago ftm. My dad says he can't accept my decision. That God don't make mistakes. I told him that it's a birth defect that I couldn't help all I could do was fix it. Told him I'm still me. I said if someone with down syndrome could fix their birth defect don't you think most would would he not accept their decision. I can't get him to understand or to see the bible isn't just black and white. Plus times change. What do you all think. Any advice.

Galatians 3:28 seems to put it succinctly. Everyone is the same under Christ. How you are born is God's plan for not only for you but him. God would want parents to accept and love their children just as he does

My dad refuses to listen to me on things. He just keeps bringing god into. Which I'm a Christian but I see things differently. I just wonder if he always knew I was different and blames himself. I think he thinks he did something wrong to mack me trans.

Hi Dylan, welcome to Susan's. I'm sorry that your dad refuses to listen, but hopefully you can eventually find away to show him that he will agree with and understand. I look forward to seeing you around the forums. Good luck and hugs

I don't think god makes mistakes but when the people wanted a king, god pretty well let them make their own way in life.
An example of the fact that mistakes happen and god isn't behind it can be found here http://www.chm.bris.ac.uk/motm/thalidomide/first.html. I only provided one link but googling Thalidomide will return many items on the subject. This was something that happened when I was young and everybody my age or older would know about it. It is pretty much forgotten today and this is why drugs receive very careful testing before being released to the public.
They have found other things Thalidomide is good for and the drug is on the market for some very special conditions, but I am sure there is a very specific warning label on it to prevent this from happening again.

Um, God made you trans...

But that's beside the point.  As soon as people start throwing out those kind of BS "religious" arguments, stop wasting your breath.  Move along.  You won't change him, he won't change you, and your time and energy would be best spent figuring out how to move ahead with your life with him or without.

He might change his opinions when he bothers to educate himself outside the covers of the Bible.  And if he doesn't, well, you've lost nothing.
