Attitudes towards transgender people are "20 years behind" those towards gay, lesbian and bisexual (LGB) individuals, Kellie Maloney has said.

The boxing promoter told the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire programme the transgender community was "frightened to come forward", adding: "We're seen as freaks, we're seen as perverts."

Although not as high profile as Caitlyn Jenner, boxing promoter Kellie Maloney, is a somewhat high profile personality, scheduled to be a judge is the first Miss Transgender UK pageant in September, crystalized some issues and fears facing the transgender community on the Victoria Derbyshire programme quite well.
