hi my name is Vanessa and i am 31, i just started hrt on 9-8-15 and I am so excited and happy. but I am worried about my age and how hrt will effect me. if i will see noticeable changes, i know i wont see changes over night and know it takes time. i just hope i do see changes.
i was wondering what changes i could expect?
i kinda of noticed so far my emotions are all over the place. is this normal?
thank you ☺

Congratulations!

One of the first things I noticed was a shift in my scent.  And a slight shift in taste and smell.  But different people noticed different things at the beginning.  Your emotions being all over the place is very typical.

As to being 31, it just depends.  I started just before I turned 40 and I am now 41, and I was super happy with the results so far.  There are many people on here that started in there 30s or 40s and have awesome results.  But it varies a lot, and part of that is your genetics as well.

Congratulations  :)

well all changes are individual
1–3 months after  starting estrogen
                  • softening of skin
                  • decrease in muscle mass and increase in body fat
                  • possible redistribution of body fat to a more "feminine" pattern
                  • fewer instances of waking up with an erection or spontaneously
                    having an erection;
Gradual changes
                  • nipple and breast growth
                  • slower growth of facial and body hair
                  • slowed or stopped "male"-pattern balding
                  • decrease in testicular size

If you take estrogen via oral/sublingual you could try to spread the daily dose in a few small doses, instead of two big ones... this way levels might be more steady, which could help with emotions...

I find that I don't get mood swings even though I take my dose all at once in the morning. Perhaps it's a short term buildup.
April 22, 2015, the day of my first face to face pass in gender neutral clothes and no makeup. It may be months to the next one, but I'm good with that!

Being transgender is just a phase. It hardly ever starts before conception and always ends promptly at death.

my does is split for once in the morning and once in the afternoon. how would i spread this out more? and will effect the way the estrogen works?

Well talk with your doc about it...
Many people use bioidentical micronized estrogen sublingually... this way its supposed to be less straining on the liver and less causing clotting factors...

If swallowed instead of used sublingual the release is slower but the dose is less effective because part of it is built down by the liver...

anyways there is a spike with intake and there might be a low hours later, causing menopausal like mood swings...
if the daily dose is say spread in four parts levels might be more steady...
it might be worth a try...
the daily dose is the same...

Letting it dissolve is supposed to be better for the liver and less causing clotting factors.
If dissolved in the mouth estrogen enters the blood stream directly, through the mouth. This way it bypasses the liver with intake.
If swallowed it passes through the liver with intake.

On potassium.  I just had my 9 month HRT blood test.  My sodium was at the bottom end of normal and potassium just barely over the top end.  During the 9 months I did not make any efforts to reduce potassium and I did take vitamins.  I also drank a V8 nearly every day which contains a lot of potassium, 640 mg.  I would expect a multivitamin by itself wouldn't be a problem.

At 33 and three months on HRT, I'm still partly colorblind but my vision has improved. I've had to get new glasses with a weaker prescription. My hips are getting bigger and my waist and shoulders are slimming, and I'm seeing development of breast tissue! I use a sticky bra and made some nice cleavage today, lol. And no, it's not just fat, because I haven't gained any weight!

You should do fine with starting at your age, but it all depends on what you've got to start with really. Just don't forget that body size and shape isn't everything. "Average Women" look nothing like our societally programmed concept of beauty, and being a woman is about more than aesthetic changes. Don't get me wrong, do whatever it takes to be happy with yourself, but if you're easily discouraged, it's going to be a very long and bumpy road, and it's already long and bumpy enough!

I was 39 when I started. HRT didn't do much for me physically. I hadn't seen any noticeable changes after 6 months.

It was for me. Your body is doing significant reconstruction. That takes materials.
