Hey this may be a weird question haha, but I am like naturally a very white and delicate looking guy. I was thinking about maybe getting in the tanning bed one or two times because I want to look good for meeting my girlfriend (LDR). I believe that the tanner you are, the more passable as a guy you could be, unless you like rock the white look, you're lucky! Unfortunately I burn pretty bad, then it may turn to a SLIGHT tan or nothing. So any tips what to put on after going or how many times should I go? I know it's not good for my skin, but I'm only going like twice at the most.
Thanks guys :-\

Don't go too long... I'd say only a few minutes...

talk to the people at the studio... if the lamps are new... how long they would suggest, depending on skin type...

and get some nourishing products for your skin afterwards... for example coconut or jojoba oil (unless allergic)...

For light, white skin, you would have to go for a number of times, starting with short periods of time and then work up.  Two sessions will do nothing, unless you start with a high number and just want to just burn.  However, I don't think the tanning bed burn shifts into tan the way the sun one does.

Back in the day I used to do the tanning bed thing.  I have pale skin, like you.

I would suggest you stay way from tanning beds as they can really be damaging. I have had only natural exposure and I use sunblock as strong as it comes but at my age, I would still like to have had less sun exposure. It may be nice now but it can age you much faster. A little caution now and some day you will still be a hansom, young looking 60 year old man.

I tried tanning parlors in 2007, I only went about 2 or 3 times and I didn't get much of a "tan" but I did get freckles that are there to this day. Probably not a very wise things to do... I suppose it was before another spate of major warnings about tanning beds, but I just wanted to "try it out". In the end I didn't get a tan and it probably aged my skin and caused permanent raised freckles. Wouldn't bother with it if I were you. Such amounts of UV isn't very good for you. Too much can cause cancer after all and those tanning machines can be very powerful.

If your girlfriend does not like your natural skin then she is not the girl for you. Do not try to change things about yourself just to impress someone, you may find that it will actually do the opposite. For all you know she could have known someone who died from using tanning beds and to find that you used one would be an insult.

Tanning parlours have been banned in my home state in Australia because they can and do cause skin cancer. If you are fair skinned then I'd recommend avoiding them altogether. Try using your charm, personality and looks instead of your tan to land the babes. ;)

...I know a fair number of pasty white guys who have swell girlfriends!  My advice would be to avoid the tanning beds.  Your GF should understand that you want to live a long, healthy life with fair skin rather than die from melanoma at age 30.  ;)

I would go for tinted bodywash since you can get a natural result without the damage and chance if skin cancer. I'm pale as well and I'm planning on doing that since tanner skin highlights muscle tone and makes your body look leaner. Also I just like that natural sun-kissed boy next door look.

I rarely go anymore, but tanning does help me pass, and I need to get back into it.

When first starting, VERY SLOWLY increase the time you go for/frequency. I started out in stand-up booths, but now that I can achieve a base very quickly, I prefer the beds (they're stronger, I can go for more time, and get a better tan, so I don't have to go as often). It took a long time to get a really noticeable tan, but I feel I approached it safely. I went to the beach this summer (didn't get in the water though, so I wasn't very exposed), BUT I didn't use sunscreen the entire time. Didn't burn, just got a little bit more tan. It felt so nice having that type of freedom. :)

I don't use any lotions or anything when I tan. I know it's better to moisturize, I'm just not invested enough in it to spend the extra money or effort.

Too much of a risk of skin cancer. You won't get results in two short sessions anyway.

I have very pale, sallow skin, and you should try a tan lotion or something of the like. Looks natural, hydrates your skin, and doesn't give you cancer. Only thing that worked for me, though I don't use it anymore.
