I have tattoos but they were all done pre-transition. I am seeking a tattoo shop near Philadelphia that is trans friendly. I want a tattoo across my chest that strategically covers my scars. I am sure I'll have to explain this to the artist. Does anyone know of a place?

I'm not on Philadelphia but I'm a fan of tattoos and I would personally pick a shop with the best quality work. I can see why you would want somewhere trans friendly but you're a client and a tattoo artist should treat you with respect no matter your gender/sexuality/race. I'm sure they've seen every type of person in their line of work. You could tell the artist you used to have gynaecomastia which is technically true. So just pick a shop that's simply friendly.
They/them pronouns preferred.

There is a tatoo shop affiliated with McGinns center who does scar covering.

drchristinemcginn.com/services/tattoo.php

They write about medical and non medical tattoo artistry.

That's a good idea I don't know why I didn't think of it.

I wouldn't worry too much about where you go. I've had a few tattoos done since top surgery, and every artist has been really cool about everything, and though I haven't had my chest tattooed, they've actually all been really interested in seeing it when I mention wanting a chest piece. Nobody has ever made me feel uncomfortable. Quite the opposite.
