O.k. everytime I have gotten on HRT, I for some reason cannot get enough cheese. I want cheese cubes, fried cheese, sliced cheese, cream cheese, grated, chopped, melted, dipped, dunked, covered, coated, canned, and food surrounded with cheese. What gives?

I think about cheese, (no I don't cut it so don't go there), dream about cheese and think "Where can I get my next of cheese fix"? Is it boob food? Is my ever expanding ass and thighs screaming for more? I have gone from obsessing about transition to obsessing about cheese. I'd like to go to the hospital and get a cheese drip because my jaw is sore from eating cheese....I'd continue writing but its time to go get some more.

Is it just me or has anybody experienced this phenomenon?

ROFL  ;D :D  I think it's you, hon.  I used to crave sweets more than anything when I was on my massive dosage of HRT.  Not anymore though but sometimes I would make some pancakes in the middle of the night....  ;)

LoL, maybe I'll try pancakes next time instead of climbing into the bottom of a bag of grated cheese and chewing my way out.

I was like that before HRT, and still am!  I throw cheese on just about anything I cook.  And sometimes bacon.  I also crave pickles every now and then.

Now I want to eat a pickle...

Oh you KNOW how I was with cheese in the beginning months of HRT. It's like all I thought about.

I STILL like it, but that obsession eventually faded. I crave meats now, proteins, deli meats, hoagies (for you easterners, lol), sausage...

Which is weird for someone who lives on rice and pasta (no meat sauces) normally.

When you crave cheese have you tried replacing it with something healthier.  I know I shouldn't give advice when I give into my own cravings so easily (I'm eating a pickle now)

I was thinking it was the calcium or something else in it so I do take supplements...Calcium, folic acid, Vitamin D, and a good Multi Vitamin...oh and Magnesium because Calcium stops you up. I'm reading the empty package of Cheese I just devoured seeing if there is something else I can buy that will replace what my body is needing out of the cheese. At least pickles have no calories so eat as many as you want!!

At 14 months HRT at our age..the muscles start to change...you need protein. Feed your body what it needs :)

I like cheese too. I have always liked it. I can eat cheese with everything. This was before HRT and still a problem for me. I do get a craving for chocolate. I never had it before but now and again I want a piece of dark chocolate, not cheap stuff, the good stuff. I eat the candy and I'm satisfied for a few weeks, it is so strange.

ditto. I don't eat chocolate very often, but I LOVE really good dark chocolate when I do eat it.

edit, sometimes I combine the two.

Pickles go well with cheese. heehee
I craved pickled foods for quite awhile. Dill pickles, pickled herring, pickled veggies, kimchi, yum. Luckily for me the Dr. told me to start adding salt to my diet so I eventually started keeping 1-2 gallons of kimchi in the fridge. And that goes well with some cheese too. I don't crave it near as much as I used to anymore. A craving for pickles can be indicative of a vitamin deficiency though. For me it was a craving for the vinegar.

I became a chocolate fan myself.  But I still love cheese!!!  I make a grilled cheese whenever I want something easy and cheesy and delicious!

Hi, Lori,

I don't know of any proven connection between estrogen HRT and cheese or other dairy consumption, however...

Potato chips with sour cream dip works for me.  Any cheese besides Limburger is on my list.

I believe that at HRT has the potential to make one's appetite far keener.  I have curves where there weren't any and my jeans fit nicely and show-off my bum (butt to those who believe that a bum can only be a person).

I love fresh-sliced deli cheese in a sandwich or with almost any meats from the deli.  Last night I had a picnic eating garlic salami and lightly-smoked provolone.

Tonight I went out for supper and I had my lasagna fix.  Plenty of cheese there, too.

And I love chocolate.  I had a friend who had a tag line under her pic that read, "Give me the chocolate and no one gets hurt."  LOL!!!

I believe I'll go to the fridge and see what needs my immediate attention.

Chocolate can lower your blood pressure.

P.S.  Especially good after a grilled cheese with tomato soup made with milk, or pasta, or a grilled steak, or a Philly cheese steak hoagie, or grilled salmon, or a pot of my jambalaya, or...

Well guess what. All you pickle eating ladies have gotten my curiosity up and since Pickles are zero calories I'm going to go get the biggest tub of Dill Pickles I can find and see if it will at least put a dent in this crazy cheese craving. I think cheese may be boob food because even in a sports bra I'm getting cleavage at 4 and 1/2 months.

OMG, this drug rep brought in this cheescake from Costco and it totally blew me away. I don't know if my senses are changing but that was like a slice of pure heavenly bliss. If I could store that short time in a bottle, I'd open it every hour on the hour and relive it. I'm not going there again because the calories are way too high. I need to avoid Costco now :(

All this talk about cheese is starting me off again, and I'm not even on HRT.

My prob is I had to stop eating it because it was bumping my cholesterol up...now I want some.....arrrgh!
