every possible legal action against these nutjobs. People like this disgust me, gosh, I can't even put it into words. They simply disgust me more than anything else in the world. I'm not American, I live in Europe, but I love the USA and want to move there and my girlfriend is American but she lives in a very progressive state so I wouldn't be particularly scared to move to her area. But sometimes when I hear things like this and watch/read American news I get anxious and scared. I don't really want to bash the US, as it's a country I really love, but some people over there are pretty insane. I'm not saying Europe is some trans-friendly heaven (it's really not, especially with the forced sterilization of trans people who want to legally change the gender written on documents, at least in some countries), but the religious right in the US is absolutely disgusting and dangerous and it all just borders on psychopathy, or worse. It's pure evil, as you say.
So by all means, use every legal action you can use. I agree that finding a good American lawyer, especially a LGBT friendly one is the step you should take.
I'm really sorry and I hope all these people will be harshly punished by US law. I'm confident they will.

No one should need a government to tell them whether they are female or male or other. Unfortunately, I think we're far from being totally free to determine who we really are without long legal processes. No one else gets to define us but ourselves. That said, didn't the sheriff actually threaten to break the law? Isn't it illegal to physically attack people? I hope it is. How does he get away with saying things like this in public? These are threats.

I guess they're also Christians. They better read the words of Jesus again, they missed his message of love. It makes me even more sick, because we have a similar religion, and it makes me sick that people use the name of G-d to spread their hatred.
