Hey! So first post ever because I really need some advice... I've been transitioning for the past 3 years to male, which is where I definitely socially like to be if I HAVE to pick a gender (I really identify as agender but until society at large can catch up to that here I am as a guy). I've been taking T for two years and have had top surgery, and I've noticed that, while I generally like the way my body looks, I really miss being a bit more androgynous and I've been kinda considering going off T for a little bit to see how I like to have things for real. I haven't been able to have a lot of time being read as ambiguously female/male, it just kinda flipped for me. I've heard a lot of people say that when they stopped testosterone, it because a lot harder for people to tell what gender they were. I know I'm walking a fine line here because I really don't want to be referred to as female but I just would like to look less masculine and not have to work as hard to present more femme when I want to (HONESTLY if I had my choice I'd just be in my heels and full beard and makeup but I live in a state where I'd probably get my ass kicked for that so it's... a lot better to go entirely one way or the other). Does anyone have any experience with going off of T, how it affected their body (maybe like a timeline if you can remember?), and if they were read as female afterwards if they weren't TRYING to be in their day to day? Thanks!

Welcome to Susan's Place. It would be nice if it works that way because it would have made my transition so much easer. The problem I see is that it takes a long time for the changes to happen and in that time, the dysphoria will most likely return. If your body does reverse, it would be very hard to hit that fine point that you are after. A number of MTFs have attempted the androgynous look and they keep coming up on one side or the other few seem to accomplish a look that's middle of the road.
