Hi guys!

So things went very differently than I expected ten months ago. Instead of doing the transition at the first clinic, I switched clinics (am now with a better one) and started T with supervision from my GP.

As is usual with newbs I have a plethora of questions.

T made me feel extremely energetic but also tense (I was already tense, but it seems to have exacerbated this feeling - like clenching in the jaw area). I´ve had medication based on amphetamines before and it is a similar feeling. Can I assume this is normal?

I was also wondering whether it´s okay to change the time of applying, because I applied way late and as a result I couldn´t sleep. Maybe it´d be better if I switched to mornings.

Otherwise I noticed I feel way more confident and walk differently. It´s a day/night contrast.

I noticed this tension as well. You can use progressive contracting and releasing of muscles throughout your body to calm yourself down to sleep. While the tension is a marked change, it doesn't get progressively worse and it was nothing like SSRIs (couldn't relax for anything).

What's been most annoying is that if something makes me emotionally tense, like an exciting TV show, I feel it in my entire body. I can get agitated and have to pace and walk it out. That sucks. Actual in person stuff that used to fray my nerves actually doesn't affect me as much. I'm much calmer in social situations.

It made me tense too for the first few months and gave me a buzz of energy after I applied it. And I don't know why you aren't applying it on in the mornings. On my testogel box it instructs you too. Applying it in the mornings is more 'natural' because cis guys wake up with a burst of T. Plus T will give you a buzz of energy.
They/them pronouns preferred.

I´ll apply it in the morning from now on. I didn´t see it on the pamphlet but then again I´m extremely chaotic from time to time so it probably slipped my mind.

Thanks AnxietyDisord3r! That´s exactly how it feels. I also feel a little bit hurried in a pacing way, I actually went on a cleaning frenzy so it worked out okay  ;D Yeah it´s nothing like SSRI´s. Those made me feel like ... too.

My feet are still healing from a fracture and crps but I´ll make sure to go for short walks and maybe in a while I can start yoga again to relax.

Not sure about the tenseness, but I was feeling so energetic upon taking it, i think it was mostly psychological, I never did have problems with physical energy. It was so feel-good, like a compulsion to take it and I joked constantly to my friend that I was shooting up heroine like a drug addict (less damaging and so much better psychologically, for sure). It felt that energizing.

Anyways, regarding time, did you mean changing your schedule of when you take it? I think I ritually do mine on the day I first took it, but according to my doctor a day after (since I cant always schedule my appointments same day) works fine. I assume T isn't super restricted to timestamps of when to take it so if you want to switch up taking morning or afternoons it's fine, as long as it's roughly around the same timeframe. Of course I'm no doctor that's just been my experience with it.

Also congrats on that, it's awesome.

Thanks!

Yeah I meant that I´d like to switch to morning, because it gives me a rush of energy. I get quite bouncy.
The leaflet on my androgel package said that I was supposed to apply it at consistent times I think, but I don´t think it will be too hard on my body if I switch from afternoon to morning just one time. I´m on a low starting dose.

A (cis) dude here (I think his name is filemon) did a series on TV where he took T (not gel but injections, they did not say what) said that after getting his T shot he felt like he did cocaine. I´ve never done cocaine but I do notice a pretty big difference in confidence between now and a few days ago.

So yeah I get the comparison

Elis I checked the leaflet again and it says "apply once a day at approximately the same time, preferably in the morning" so yes. ^^

Sometimes I read too hastily.

I think it's a really common thing for topicals. I do recall feeling like this. Like Elis said, apply in the mornings typically after a warm shower. This will open your pores up and increase the absorption rate. From there, just make sure you're doing as much as you can to stay active and manage your nutrition. For a lot of people increased energy also means increased appetite, which can wreak havoc on the waistline if you aren't otherwise active.

When I switched to injections, the "buzz" kind of went away. Or maybe I was desensitized to it by that point. I do mine at night before bed and sleep like a baby.

Thank you Max,

I actually need to gain weight. This year there was a lot of stress, I used to weight 70kg now down to 60.
Before this I usually felt extremely lethargic and did not do much the entire day - I´m more active now and trying to eat more too.

Oh hey well I take IM injections so ignore me, haha! I'm not sure what the variance is between doses and how you apply
