Over the last year, ive gained 40 pouds of fat when i started HRT super skinny.  At my last consultation with my endo on january, i was at 25 ng/dl  when womans are between 30 ng/dl and 95 ng/dl  for Testosterone.   I am wondering if having such low testosterone in blood  can have consequences with body fat?  He doubled my dose of cyproterone acetate  after the appointment on january.  I dont have results of my new blood test from last week but i expect my T to be around 10 ng/dl or lower.

I started to try losing fat 2 weeks ago by eating healthy and correctly and going to gym but i havent lost anything yet .. I am wondering if i am right to think that my level is wrong and i need to ask my endo to lower my dose of T blocker

Well initially fat will convert to muscle. Muscle weighs close to double of body fat. Also your uptake of water will increase. Both of these will appear as no weight loss.

The best thing to do while getting fit is to rather use a tape measure and measure yourself.

Keep at it, two weeks is not long enough to see results.

When you take estrogens, you will gain subcutaneous fat. We want this in the right places. if you gained 40 pounds in a year, you need to look at your diet. Eating healthy is good, but how many calories are you eating?

The only thing testosterone will do for your weight is to increase muscle mass.

increased bone density, increase metabolism etc.

just remember if you excerise and get fit you will gain weight in muscle (it weighs more than fat)

Eat right and exercise.  Low T does not automatically make you gain fat, that comes from eating too much.

I lowered my T to zero and lost 50 pounds, down to where my bones stuck out.  I have since gained some back but that was because I quit tracking diet and was eating way more than I was burning.

My testosterone is 15 and I'm having a hard time gaining weight.... I mean it's easier but still hard. I've gained 10 lbs since starting  hormones and am currently 130 lbs. my goal weight is 140

i believe the T needs to be on average between 30~80, being near zero will result in muscle mass loss, weight loss, fatigue, cholesterol issues, fragile bones, etc. T is necessary in females at low levels. its used for a variety of benefits to the female body. just as E is necessary in males for some very good reasons too..

I asked my Dr about my low T level last week.  She said it wasn't a problem.  I'll keep watching for problems and if any appear I'll cut the spiro dose.  She said that was ok too.

the best thing to do, IMO, is to find out the average range of CIS female and aim for the lower end. this will give your body enough T for bone strength etc. your body has stores, and strength in bones etc.. and with such a low T level it will be using these stores..i think it best to be at the lower end of normal CIS female levels is a safer bet, that way your bodies reserves will be left untouched or little used and there for when you have the flu or get sick..

Studies have found that T (testosterone) keeps fat away from waist area because of conversion to estrogen through aromatase so that E (and T) keep your waistline thin. On the other hand, progesterone and progestogens in general, favor fat deposition in female areas like butt, thighs. Certain progestogens, like cyproterone acetate can also increase slightly fat deposition in the abdominal area due to its glucocorticoid actions. I believe this is the progestogen/anti-androgen you are taking and this may be causing you excess gain weight. You have recently doubled the dose of this.

You need to discuss this matter with your doctor. The issue, to me, seems hormonally driven more than caused by eating/activity habits. That is only my opinion, I'm not a doctor.

I dunno anything about the hormones.  Your boob job obviously impacted that tho.  I wanted to ask you what your immediate thoughts were after breast augmentation?  I am trying to lose weight too with difficulty. The veg high carb diet requires sacrifice w little to show - merely hanging on. I am starting to ride my bike more.

LOW carb, high fat has helped many successfully lose weight while also improving health (blood pressure, HDL, triglycerides, insulin levels, etc.).

Are you sure that some of that wasn't from the BA? You're not exactly part of the itty-bitty titty committee. ::)

Looks like I am going veg for the third time in my life now, which has benefits for the lifestyle i.e., reduced muscle mass.  Unfortunately, carbs end up looking like beer gut. :(
