I had a lip lift with Meltzer back in the day, along with all my facial work. He recommended a more aggressive lift; I opted for one a bit more conservative (I'd had a bad dream a few months previously of a grossly overdone lift). Considering I have a long face, I didn't want the upper lip to be too short, making my nose look longer, but another 3mm would have really helped in hindsight, as my lower lip is much more plump and so there's a bit of imbalance. I'm kind of considering having another one done, because over the years the lip has stretched out a bit.
It was the bullhorn style, which I actually think is superior for what we're dealing with. I don't think the Italian will raise the bottom of the cupid's bow enough, it's more about creating more vermilion, but we really don't want that extra length at the bottom of the bow. Also, when it comes to scarring, it's only the scarring under the nostril opening that's at all visible, the bit between the nostril isn't noticeable at all.
As to that scar... I notice it, and I can see it in other women like us who've had a lip lift when I look for it. But it really does blend in well with the shape of the nose, and it's only when I'm looking for it that I actually see it. After about 3 weeks it was easy to conceal with makeup, and at about 2 months or so no makeup has been needed since. It looks more like a series of deep pores than a scar, actually.
