Lip lift experience?

In 2017 I will be getting a lip lift. I am still thinking about it, because it is an extra scar.

I know I need it, because my upper lip to nose distance is around 18-20mm. Whereas in females it is around 12-15mm. A lip lift is a very important feminization technique. For most females, a lip lift is not necessary but for a MTF it can mean a lot.

My surgeon suggested doing a Italian lip lift. Which results in less scarring. Only two half moons are removed beneath the nostrils, so there is no scar line beneath the entire nose.

Here you see can examples of different techniques: http://www.drlamperti.com/facial-plastic-surgery/lip-lift

My goal: shorten the nose and lip distance. I don't want a cosmetic/beauty result, only a shorter lip.

Who has done a lip lift, and what was your experience? which technique was used? how is the scarring?

I really want to hear from you.

I had a lip lift with Meltzer back in the day, along with all my facial work.  He recommended a more aggressive lift; I opted for one a bit more conservative (I'd had a bad dream a few months previously of a grossly overdone lift).  Considering I have a long face, I didn't want the upper lip to be too short, making my nose look longer, but another 3mm would have really helped in hindsight, as my lower lip is much more plump and so there's a bit of imbalance.  I'm kind of considering having another one done, because over the years the lip has stretched out a bit.

It was the bullhorn style, which I actually think is superior for what we're dealing with.  I don't think the Italian will raise the bottom of the cupid's bow enough, it's more about creating more vermilion, but we really don't want that extra length at the bottom of the bow.  Also, when it comes to scarring, it's only the scarring under the nostril opening that's at all visible, the bit between the nostril isn't noticeable at all.

As to that scar... I notice it, and I can see it in other women like us who've had a lip lift when I look for it.  But it really does blend in well with the shape of the nose, and it's only when I'm looking for it that I actually see it.  After about 3 weeks it was easy to conceal with makeup, and at about 2 months or so no makeup has been needed since.  It looks more like a series of deep pores than a scar, actually.

What you look forward to has already come, but you do not recognize it.

I am interested in this as well, hope there will be some more reports and/or pictures. I consider it now as an alternative to getting FFS - it is said that lip lift can be very feminizing, so maybe it will be enough, combines with a hairline transplant to feminize the face.

All the very best with it 2Cherry and I shall be following this with interest.

I asked Dr Sutin about having one done as part of my FFS but he preferred not to touch it the same time as tipplasty and alarplasty as the result can be 'wonky.' As it happens the tippplasty, in which I specifically requested an upturned nose tip, has also lifted my upper lip. I may well leave things be now.
