My transition is getting 'real'

I had my 2-month HRT checkup this week, and all my levels good.  I have an appointment with my therapist in a couple of weeks to discuss starting RLE.  And today, I made an appointment to get my fingerprints done for my name change.

Something when I was making the fingerprint appointment at the cop shop was totally insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but gave me a pleasant little buzz.  The receptionist took my current ID, all in my old (male) name of course and filled in the details on the form.  She confirmed that was my old name, and I said yes.  Then she asked my new name.  "Kathleen", I said, "middle name Lauren".  She hesitated just for a split second, then continued, checking the spelling.  She came to the box for sex and said with a smile, "Still 'M' for now?"

Like I said, in the grand scheme of things, it means nothing.  She was just doing her job.  But when people are pleasant and professional when the subject of my transition comes up, it goes a long was towards calming my fears.  It means that another person has accepted me for who I am.

Anyway, I am now listed in an official government document as me, even if it is only an appointment calendar.

Wonderful.  :)

Have you done any RLE?

I'm finding it comes fairly easy, after the initial fear of course.

I'm now full time with the exception of work, where I don't plan on coming out because I'm looking for something else.

I plan on interviewing for jobs as my true gender in a couple months.

I've only been on HRT for a month, so I still look like a male, although a very feminine one I've been told.

Luckily I live in a place where I can feel comfortable.

Not sure I could yet do a trip to the cop shop though. ;)

I do dress as myself for the weekly support group meetings and for all transition-related appointments.  Those are all in the city, an hour and a half away, so I don't worry about running into someone I know.

The visit to the police station this week was part of our regular weekly shopping errands, so I was on boy mode.  I don't know if I will dress for the fingerprints session.  Probably not, since they shouldn't need photos.  However, when I go for my new driver's license, it will have to be as Kathy for the photo.

Good luck on your job search!  You are very pretty in your avatar, especially for only one month on HRT.

Thanks, thanks, happy, happy.

You live in the east of Canada?

If you had a potato, how would you be sure it was one?
