I had my 2-month HRT checkup this week, and all my levels good. I have an appointment with my therapist in a couple of weeks to discuss starting RLE. And today, I made an appointment to get my fingerprints done for my name change.
Something when I was making the fingerprint appointment at the cop shop was totally insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but gave me a pleasant little buzz. The receptionist took my current ID, all in my old (male) name of course and filled in the details on the form. She confirmed that was my old name, and I said yes. Then she asked my new name. "Kathleen", I said, "middle name Lauren". She hesitated just for a split second, then continued, checking the spelling. She came to the box for sex and said with a smile, "Still 'M' for now?"
Like I said, in the grand scheme of things, it means nothing. She was just doing her job. But when people are pleasant and professional when the subject of my transition comes up, it goes a long was towards calming my fears. It means that another person has accepted me for who I am.
Anyway, I am now listed in an official government document as me, even if it is only an appointment calendar.
