This weekend I was hanging out with a new (18 months) group of friends.  About 1/2 are LGB and I'm the token T 😋. 

One of the CIS woman came up to me and wanted to know where I get my clothes.  "I always look good." Answer: Marshalls, TJ Maxx... (Discount clothing. $16 for a nice top is average.)

But the trick is don't buy anything if you wouldn't be excited to put it on and show it off.  Apparently it works.
