A bit overwhelming contacting surgeons

so i took the advise of the girls on this page on my contacting surgeons after research i contacted Mcgin, schextor, and bowers i emailed my questions and got back 2 of three both stating to fill out new patient form.  i may have done to much to soon.  i also after a week of back and forth found that my insurance coves 100 percent after a 6k deductible.  all great news but it feels real now and im terrified plus my bmi, well i need to loose 135pounds (any tips)? but 6 k will be hard to swing. 

anyway is it normal to feel overwhelmed? and elated?  and happy? and terrifired? in 9 years ot feels real today.

It's possible to safely lose 2 pounds a week so that would set a surgical date a little over a year out. That would give you time to save the 6k and many of the surgeons have a long waiting list so a surgical date may be a little slow in coming. You can do it but you will have to make an effort so that it all comes together at the same time.

As for diet, you can start by recording everything you eat and how much. There are calorie counter apps that will help you monitor your progress and help you make food choices that will meet your goals. Also consider taking up walking or some other activity to burn off the calories.

Thank you Dena, I was thinking of buying a fit bit and tracking that way, i also may need to limit protein i am still fairly muscular (i lift people at work all the time) I guess that's the stressful bit is having it all come together at the moment i have so much work to do and i am kind of on my own on account on being stealth not many to talk to or walk me through this.  Thank you for your reply i needed some positive advise today.  on the plus side Dr. Schecter seems viable and Mcginn dose not do insurance so i guess i am narrowing my list of people which is positive.  lol i just wish it was faster i hate hurry up and wait

If you are pretty muscular, your BMI number shouldn't need to be as low because BMI is calculated off a normal build. One person I have been monitoring the progress of is Deborah who is a runner but has taken off a fair amount of weight. I can't recommend the diet but in this post she and others recommend MyFitnessPal for diet tracking. I haven't used an app like that but it's another app to consider.

I don't recommend limiting protein in a diet below what the body requires because the heart is full of protein and that's one of the places it will take protein from. Just let the lack of testosterone do it's thing and over time the muscle mass will come under control.

Thank you for your reply i did download myfitnessapp and its pretty useful, i have no intention of going low enough in calories or protien i am just going to go to the lowest safe numbers,  my legs and arms are slid muscle but the E did make me gain my weight in my torso.  i just worry that if i dont hit their number i may be turned down for surgery.  at 5 foot 1 when i was lifting i was almost 200 of solid muscle and when i went to do physicals for work they always told me that i was morbidly obese, that always made me laugh. 

That over-welling feeling subsided and i have heard back from quite a few i made it a bigger deal in my head cause i have put this off for years. but all responses have been great and i even talk to a clinic that does downstairs electro (which i am dreading) its nice to talk to people and not worry about being judged or worried they are going to find out my secret(which i have to tell them ) anyway.
