Went to the dentist this morning for routine checkup and cleaning, male mode before heading to work. (I am MTF but not full time). I have an awesome dentist and don't expect any problems there. Everyone knows me well, although they don't know everything about me. I briefly considered telling them and then thought, no need to. I'll probably be full time before my next 6-month checkup, no need to announce, just show up. Teeth are teeth.
Duh. What was I thinking? After I got into the comfy torture chair the assistant's first question was - any changes to your health, any new prescriptions?
I was momentarily startled when I realized this is important. I told her yes, I started estrogen two days ago, I am transitioning male to female. Her reaction was perfect, she acknowledged and noted it just like any other medically relevant information. She asked for the specific dosage - her name isn't Susan so I told her.

And then she smiled and said "right on!" and we had a great talk (when I could talk). Then the dentist came in (we are similar age), asked "Hey what's new?" and I told him I'm remodeling two things: my condominium, and me. Other than that, no big deal. He was visibly shocked for about two seconds, and then said wow - that is GREAT!! and I sincerely believe he meant it. He said I am their second transgender patient.
For several decades I've had problems grinding my teeth - the combination of a very strong jaw and stress. We had a brief discussion how I am looking forward to HRT changing the muscles in that part of my jaw.
Life is good.
