I had my meeting with the endocrinologist on Friday, at the VA. I wasn't sure what she was looking for with our meeting, but it basically consisted of a short chat. I the short chat came after they figured out who I was... lol!
The nurses missed me twice, and my doctor fell on her words when they figured it out. The first nurse gave me a double take, the second nurse was a little shocked and was super shocked after I told her that I had been on hormones for 18 months. She nearly fell over when I responded to her question of "how long did it take to do your hair" when I told her it was my natural hair...
My doctor came out to get me shortly after. Now to be fair, she had never seen me in makeup; only in drab so as not to give her a false impression of how much or how little progress I have really made with the hormones. My doctor was still looking for me after I walked up next to her... Got about 30 seconds of consecuative "whoa" s and "wow" s.
The actual meeting was not much more than seeing how I was doing, ensuring that I knew about the LGBTQ coordinator, and that the VA was still only offering an orchiectomy. Since I'm not sold on that route, she ensured that I was aware that I need to be mindful of how long I am going to have to stay at high hormone levels and the risks/unknows with continuing at the current dosages. No blood tests, no breast exams etc... it was more of a show my face so she could pick me out of a lineup if anyone asked. If we didn't already communicate via e-mail/phone once or twice a month for that past 8 months, we might have had more to discuss.
Well, that's about all the fun I've had recently.
