1st week HRT, low dose to start...

Hi all,

Just started HRT this past week (12 days), and so far things have been great!

After much counseling and waiting I can finally start this journey to be my true self, it hasn't been easy but I feel great.

So far I've done some rounds (3) of laser hair removal on the face and trunk, I hope that the onset of E and S will help with this. I've felt and intense feeling when applying my patch, I suppose it should mostly be emotions and anticipation (placebo effect) but it feels great. Emotionally I feel great, very stable and happy... Sexually I've felt that my libido has somewhat dropped, no spontaneous erections, however I'm still able to function with my partner (my thoughts usually revolve on getting her body so it helps)... semen feels very watery and orgasms are OMG INTENSE!.. also out of the blue I get secretions from my clitty, does anybody had to deal with that in the first month?

My built is a bit on the thick side, 200 lbs. 5'7'' however I've lost 10+ lbs. during the last couple of months anticipating my transition, being on a strict diet to be able to achieve my goals, I guess that I plan a holistic and very healthy life until I become Lara... My Doctor said that I should add more E and S during my second week, so looking forward to that and see how my body responds.

Hello Lara! 

I started MtF HRT eight weeks ago, estradiol patches.  When I mentioned what I immediately experienced someone replied and said I am probably experiencing a placebo effect, but I am certain that's not the case - I found an amost immediate change to my emotions and a sharp change to my sensory perception.  I was mistaken about an odd line appearing on my chest after the first couple days, turns out that was a fold in my cheap mattress pad... yeah I feel dumb about that.  But everything else is real for me.

The reason I know my sensory changes are not a placebo is I get surprised when I'm not thinking about it.  I see and process my entire field of vision instead of a small tunnel where I am looking... I see neighborhoods and forests across a lake instead of a single house next to a tree.  The first few days I was worried about driving because I am suddenly so aware of the scenery.  And then I realized the joy and my smile is just like when I was ten years old riding my bicycle on horse trails in the woods before puberty turned my world inside out.

My sense of smell is so much sharper along with taste.  To be careful with weight I always use oil and balasmic vinegar on my salad and I now find the vinegar burns my tongue.  I hear music differently - I hear everything instead of just focusing on the soloist. 

Many people noticed a change in my face - friends, family, co-workers.  I don't think I've had time for significant changes to fat or muscle but I can't hide the way I feel and it is awesome.  I know everyone responds differently to HRT for a variety of reasons but this is what I have experienced.

Hi all,

I wanted to write an update of how I'm doing and what changes I have experienced so far:

Went to see my doctor today and all the bloodwork is fine, she wants me to schedule my next lab a month from now, however everything is great, my E levels have certainly climbed and my T levels has been drastically reduced, my body has adjusted pretty well to changes so she added more E to continue my transition.

First of all, my mood has somewhat lightened, I feel a LOT more aware of my surroundings, the anxiety is almost gone as I feel my hormonal levels are balanced. I've been more outspoken than before and more comfortable among others (I guess is because I know my body is finally changing), I've noticed a tendency to cry for almost no reason.. but it feels fine to finally express my emotions as I feel them.

Body changes (if any): I've felt that my odor has changed a lot, specially my sweat and my urine, to an almost female smell, sweet and flowery... somehow it reminded me of my sister smell when we were growing up. I've noticed that I get tired of exercising sooner than before and my legs and butt fell somehow sore, I guess is the fat redistribution kicking in. My facial hair has dramatically reduced, thank you Laser!!! ... and my body hair is not growing back at its normal speed. Regarding Breast Growth -----> Call me crazy but I've definitely seen some changes in the frist 2 weeks, I feel a strange puff behind the nipple that gets sore to the most delicate touch, this feeling I like because it's the first MAJOR physical change that I've experienced... also the areola has grown but just a little, however my breasts feel that they are rounder with a little pain to the touch, as a whole feel BIG, My genetics are favorable, my mom and sister are both DD cups. My libido has also dropped, I can't keep an erection for more than 1 minute but it's fine, I like it that way, it feels easier to tuck, also my testicles have reduced in size, they are still big but I used to have VERY BIG testicles, also they hurt a little if touched... Orgasms, OMG totally different experience, it's a whole body feeling and way more intense than before, as for semen: it is a very clear liquid discharge, not sure for how much time this will keep on going but everytime there's less and less...

I'll keep posting as soon as I feel that some new changes have arrived.. I like to share them in this forum...

Hi Lara,

Your physical changes are happening much faster than mine, but there are so many variables with how we each respond to HRT.  I'm very happy with the mental changes I immediately experienced, so I figure physical changes will just be a bonus in my case.
