I was offline much of today because I drove from Scottsdale Arizona to Mexico and back. Nice drive, saw an area I hadn't seen before. At the US side I parked the rental car, walked across the border. The walkway to Mexico was obviously a border but nobody asked to see my passport - I went through a second gate expecting to be asked a few questions and was surprised to discover I was already past the border and was now wandering around Nogales. Lots of pharmacies, dentists, and more pharmacies. I didn't take a very good picture of the area but here is Nogales on a nice 70 degree Fahrenheit (21c) January day:

I walked back to the US side where they had a formal customs/border line as expected. When it was my turn I handed the border agent my passport. He looked at it, handed it back and said "okay" in a polite tone and that was all. No questions. I guess I don't look very threatening in a pink shirt and white pants. Wish I could have spent more time in Mexico but I needed to pick my boyfriend Saha up at Phoenix airport, I made it there right after he landed. My girlfriend Beth (she is Saha's wife) arrives tomorrow evening.

After reading Michelle's post I decided it was time to look at the dilators. I assumed they were in random washcloths to keep things tidy but I was wrong - it's a nice terrycloth holder designed for the set of five. I was surprised to find the dilators are transparent and actually quite beautiful.
And thank you all for the comments and support - this place really is an amazing group of individuals as we each support each other. My first surgery is a few hours from now.
