I was talking to my laser tech yesterday and she looked at my belly and laughed. She and I are friends basically, we get along great. She told me the hair on my belly is just like the hair that pregnant women get in the same place.

I did some research and it looks like it is quite common for pregnant women to get a bit of a hairy belly during pregnancy. Now I know that pregnant women have HIGH levels of oestrogen among other hormones.

The thing is, I never had hair on my belly like this before hormones! I feel like my oestrogen levels are too high! My body is perfect in every other way, I have a small waist, hips, and I'm 5'8". The hair is the only thing getting me down! (And obviously my genitals but that will be sorted in another 14 months).

Also before anyone asks, my testosterone is WELL under control, so it's not that.

Has anyone else heard of this happening? It's so weird that I have hair in places I never had in my life. When I was on a lower dosage of oestrogen I never had this problem either.. so that's leading me to think my levels need to come down a bit. I know my doctor aims for 'generous' levels as she puts it, which I always liked but maybe that's not such a great thing after all!

I don't want to slow down my feminisation but I also don't want hair on my body that wasn't there before! Part of me also thinks maybe I should just stick it out until SRS and by then I probably won't need to be on transitioning-dosages anymore anyway. Opinions and input are welcomed.

Some women have vellus hair all over, it's not that unusual nor is it entirely related to pregnancy..

I have noticed this development as well I figured it's part of the hormones. As long as I am not getting anything dark it's okay. If you are like me body hair just grosses you out, so I understand.

Did you even read all of my post? I didn't say it was vellus hair.. it's dark hair. I know what vellus hair is. Plenty of women report getting this (do a quick google search) and then having the hair disappear again after giving birth. So yes, it is directly related to pregnancy a lot of the time.

Yeah I hate body hair.. and mine actually is dark. Fine, but dark. It stands out cause I'm fair skinned.

Did you also know that testosterone levels significantly increase during pregnancy, more so when the fetus is male?

From this study
Cancer Epidemiol Biomarkers Prev. 2003 May;12(5):452-6.

Range in women with a male fetus, 43-921 ng/dl
Range in women with a female fetus, 38-393 ng/dl

On injections, my E2 levels were sky high, ranging from 1,000-4,000 pg/ml (similar to first trimester pregnancy levels), progesterone levels also quite high but my body hair significantly thinned down even where previously hair was quite thick (i.e. inner thighs) and I had no hairy belly during those three years of injections. It's not the E2, E2 slows down/inhibits body hair growth. If anything, it could be you are either very sensitive to T (and DHT), you have high levels of 5-alpha reductase resulting in too much DHT or something else is going on with other hormones (i.e. cortisol, etc.).

Reducing E2 could actually make things worse. :(
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

On HRT since early 2004
Post-op since late 2005

Do you think the hair might disappear after SRS?

Possibly or thin down...time will tell. Electrolysis might be the way to go...
