Northern Star Girl

Well, I've only been full-time for a month, and have zero dating experience, so I don't know how much I can help. But I also live in a small (well, 8000, so larger than yours) town (in Kansas) that's really conservative (or so I thought?) and religious. Since I've gone full-time, the reaction has been astoundingly good. This may not be the case with your town, but people can really surprise you. But yes, once someone knows everyone will soon.
Do any of your new friends in town know the guy in question? Can they tell you what he's like, so you can get an idea how he might react?

@ Sarah_P:  Thank you for your thoughtful reply.  I will be going to the gym with my girl group tomorrow and I will ask them.  I think he works for either a pharmacy, sporting goods store, bank or a credit union because those places are less than a block away from the coffee shop that I met him at yesterday... my business is 2 doors away from the coffee shop...  but I will ask him next time I see him.  Certainly anyone I talk to here, business clients and/or friends would know who he is once I divulge his name especially if he works locally.
Again, thanks for your reply.

Just be "reading" (ie: have it up at all times ready to go) that article about the first openly transgender soldier and use it as a gauge

Hey, Roll! I would only make a minor change to your comment in that it was an article about the first openly transgender person to enlist as an openly transgender person. There have been open trans members since at least August of 2016. Not trying to take away from the message, though. <3

I went to a food show in Chicago today.  It was great!  I had a couple girls at one of the counters telling me how bad men's tastes in food could be.  Had another tell me how nice she thought my outfit looked.  Got goosed by a random passerby. Not one person misgendered me!  I even got ignored by a couple of booth attendants who prioritized the men who walked up behind me at their booths.

And it was all on the company dime.  I'm getting paid for the mileage for going, plus paid for the day!

Got goosed?  Did you hear about the woman who said she got geesed in the elevator?  Someone replied, you mean you got goosed?  And she said No, I can count!!!!

That's awesome, especially getting paid for it, too!

Well, had my 3rd session with my speech therapist and it turns out that when I don't think about it and talk with my head voice I do sound feminine.  It was nice to get the validation from the therapist and when I returned home I was talking to my daughter as I did the therapist and she also commented that I did sound like a woman.

However.....................

When my daughter was video talking with her friend on the phone and her friend started asking me questions like "If you like women, why are you becoming one?", etc.  At that point I apparently lost my unfocused voice and returned to the dude or dud voice.

I'm glad it didn't offend you.  I try to find humor in everything.  For some reason it calms my lack of HRT patience :)

I seek the humor in everything too.  Some days I fail, but that's life.  The human race is an amazing organism.  Finding life, and wanting to live it, is one of the reasons I chose to start studying to be a psychologist.  The other is my desire to one day help other transgender people cope with themselves, and find their way.

@ Aspiring, I am from a small town (~10k) and was totally dreading coming out to folks there. I now live in the NY metro area and so my status, if anyone even looks up from their phone long enough to notice, is a non-issue there. But my hometown is a rural community that has a big evangelical influence and is very socially conservative. But everyone has been totally wonderful and accepting. Your mileage may vary. But I was truly surprised with the genuine depth of support and love that I encountered. Whatever you do, I hope it goes well for you hon. And if you have anything left of that magic elixir that makes you pass so well, send a girl a few drops!

My wife and I agreed last night that I should start HRT.  I'm certainly more excited than I thought it would be.
