hi everyone!
i've been on an online shopping spree today and it made me curious. what clothes do you like to wear? like, what makes you feel comfortable?
for me, i love metal shirts (with a long sleeved underneath to cover up my scars and very skinny arms), lots and lots of jewellery, and interesting pants. i'll wear skinny jeans sometimes, but i like combat pants, and i have a pair of checkerboard chef pants too. i saw a pair of marilyn manson shorts a while ago that i NEED!! shoes wise, it's got to be my checked vans or my doctor martens. i think being goth not only makes me look awesome, but it gives me an edge that makes me look a lot more masculine.

I don't wear jewellery any more. Never was much for it, anyway.

It's either smart or totally casual for me and I'm not a dedicated follower of fashion. Most of the time I'll wear jeans or cargo pants and shirts or tees. I do like the color black, though. That tends to make casual wear seem smarter than it is.

Summer time it is knit dresses and sandals usually. Sometimes shorts, tee and converse, skirts and loose tops.
I wear fewer dresses in the winter but it does happen with tights and flats(can't wait to get the tights off when I get home). It is not often that I wear jeans but I have two pair.

Today it is grey, damp and cold. I have on a maroon sweater tunic, black leggings, black and grey tiger striped socks and black canvas bobos. When we go to a gallery opening tonight I will be wearing a sweater dress almost the same color as the sweater I am wearing now, black tights with a blue and grey chain pattern that goes up them and a pair of short black pumps. Lol, he doesn't mind me towering over him but draws the line at looking like a child standing next to me. 😄

While "boyfriend" jeans or loose capris and shirts and tops are comfy for stay at home days doing chores or casual running around, like shown in my profile picture when I was grocery shopping at Costco.
I like it a lot when I can dress nicely in a fitted top and dressy capris or pants, perhaps in warmer weather a tank and shorts and sandals, but I love more dressy occasions that I can wear a nice fitted dress, ear bobs, fixed up hair and makeup... and heels... very conservative and not flashy but I think it certainly brings out my feminine side like in this recent picture of me.

Ever see The Crown? I love how Queen Elizabeth dressed 50 years ago, if it's accurate. Mary McDonnell on Major Crimes. Nice, neat and ditch the pants unless I'm working on something like the car.

For work i do jeans and either a long sleeve or short open neck tee..always underwire bras, some with formed cups and others not. Like gold chains as well. I definitely prefer skirts to pants.  I wear pants in the winter only for practical reasons.  Skinny jeans when out, yoga pants at home.  But any time the weather is warm enough, it's skirts, even if that draws attention by being the only woman wearing a skirt.  A short skirt for me is knee length.  Most of mine are below the knee.

For tops, a blouse, or a T-shirt with a cardigan over it.

The look I go for is classy conservative.  If my mother might have worn it, I'll probably like it.  I like colour.  I have some neutral colour clothes but they can only be worn with something colourful.

I like jewelry, but not a lot of it.  A necklace, a couple of rings and maybe a bracelet is plenty.  I seldom go out without at least a necklace.

Skirts above knee, little black dress above the knee, thongs, thongs, thongs, black blouses, and long sweater. Discovered the amazingness of opaque tights for day to day

If I want to feel sexy. Garter and thigh highs with thong.

Since I'm in Texas a comfortable pair of shorts and a tee is my usual. Every now and then throw in a nice skirt and blouse.  Winter is usually jeans and a long sleeve blouse or top.  Dinner dates is usually more dressed up. I prefer the simple styles.

A woman after my own heart. Get a real wool kilt for colder weather. They work well, especially with good kilt hose.

Skirts and pretty tops, soft dresses - usually longer, but I have two that are knee length and long tunics with leggings. And I love ruffles!

My favorite clothes are cute floral dresses, cardigans and tights. I really enjoy feeling and dressing very girly. Think Bernadette from the show Big Bang Theory. I also like knee length skirts and lace tops.

I mostly wear one-piece wrap dresses, as they are comfy as much as sleeping gowns and also fashionable. Styles are available for all seasons.

Spring and Fall

Summer

Winter

Also I like aprons as they are also comfortable to wear.

Just do it.

My tastes run in the same direction as yours, KathyLauren's and Aspiringperson's. My wardrobe is very limited, because I postponed buying until I had lost nearly all the weight I wanted to lose. Running around has been jeans and tops almost exclusively, but my dream is quiet elegance.  :) I've picked up a few items I'm looking forward to getting to wear, when I get the chance.

I looked for a wool skirt this winter. Can you believe, nobody in town had one? I didn't order on-line because I wasn't sure of my size.

I sort of undulate between the Heritage style, Mad Max, and a look I call "70's throwback on a peyote trip".

If I had to describe it in brief I guess I'd say "literary lesbian hipstery girl", haha!  :P  I aim for 'elegant, vaguely retro-femme literati', which seems to be in fashion somewhat now among lots of other women my age.  I have a bunch of nifty accessories-love my accessories!--which kind of accentuate the overall look.  Signature elements are thick-framed cat-eye and square-rimmed glasses, big sunglasses (which all help a ton with my main lingering source of dysphoria, facial bone structure), thick, vivid lipstick, a slim stainless-steel analog Timex watch, a glossy purple wristlet and a clutch on top of my main two purses (one's a nondescript red tote, and the other has a gorgeous amethyst-colored floral design) which I alternate between and try to coordinate with my outfits sometimes, and a black hand folding fan with pretty lattice patterns that I fidget with constantly.
I was recently gifted a pair of black leather gloves that go up my forearm.  I occasionally use a black umbrella as a parasol, especially if I'm going to be directly in the sun for any length of time (I'm a nocturnal vampire who doesn't spend time outside very often).  Jewelry includes an antique cameo brooch (I'm fond of the look of those, though they're rare these days), and a handful of necklaces I have, and that's pretty much it.

I'm sure you get the drift--it's almost kind of noir-like, like I stepped out of a film from the mid-20th century.  ;)  I recently started smoking cigarettes off and on and I think I'd look fantastic with one of those long, sleek cigarette holders, but I'll probably quit before I can get one.  :P  Perhaps "villainess-chic" could describe my style on certain days, IDK...

Cloche and a couple velvety 'Baker boy' hats, floppy sun hats, some that are sorta in between.

Lots of colorful scarves!

I have a decent-sized shoe assortment, various boots, and my favorites are two pairs of "Dexflex" flats, one black and one red.  They're super comfy, fit my feet, and compliment most of my outfits perfectly.  I have a pair of Keds my mom got me too for more casual summery wear, some sandals, clogs for around the house, etc.

I'm kind of fixated on outerwear, coats have always been my favorite garment, and I adore long trench coats/dusters and wear them constantly even indoors.  For whatever reasons it's comforting and makes me feel safe and secure to wear long coats.  I also have a couple insulated, shorter coats for heavy winter weather (one purple, one pink).

With respect to clothing, in the last year or so I've shifted towards a more modest style, as a result of a gradual shift in my personal value system.  I used to wear colored-denim skinny jeans, but I never wear pants in public anymore and haven't for quite some time--just maxi skirts, preferably ankle-length and razor-pleated.  Usually nice button-up blouses, but I also often just wear T-shirts or other long-sleeve tops under layers of cardigans and such.

All my attire is thrifted, pretty much.  :)  But yeah, that's my overall style!  I love it, it makes me feel very comfortable, authentic and confident, so I imagine it'll probably be like this for the foreseeable future.
"...what I seem to be is the monkey wrench in the machinery of everyone's sexual politics...it gets awfully frustrating at times.  What I really am is a paradox in that "transsexual" just doesn't fit into my identity, who I am to myself.  In other words, what I've been through is terribly interesting, but I have no interest in using it to say who I am."

"The transsexual experience, while a major survival issue, is not the central identity-defining factor in our lives, even though it is seen as what makes us different from other people. Despite its magnitude and intensity, it is, in the long run, merely a preliminary step to getting on with our lives."

If the wool was a pencil, knowing the fit is important. Kilt. Skirts have strapped belt and have 2-3" of adjustability. Some sites have fit info too, based on feedback.

Soft dresses, usually longer, but I have a couple that are knee length. I'm buying a skater dress this week to see how I like that style. Long, soft tunics and leggings or capris. Ruffled tops or tunics with ladies jeans. I love extremely feminine, very soft styles and am a bit of a throwback - I adore vintage styles! I love ruffles, floral prints and polka dots. For sleeping, long soft nightgowns and babydolls. I suppose it's my age showing, but I don't care for the sports/more masculine looks that are so big these days. I did my mind being an old fashioned gal!
