Are you getting a long weekend too? I hope you have some fun plans this weekend. We will be going to our local Octoberfest (as Germans we cannot resist) and then to the Octoberfest after party at a friends house. Guess Sunday will be sleeping in

Oh yeah, I have very few pictures of me when I am not smiling... in fact I am almost always smiling all the time as I go out and about....   much better than frowning and looking unhappy.   A smile is so disarming to those that see me.... usually it results in nice comments and smiles in return and friendly interactions with others.   

NOPE, no long weekend.... Columbus Day (Monday)

(and for our Canadian Friends like @KathyLauren it is their Thanksgiving Day)

Many of those optional holidays are not observed for most retail and service businesses and being self-employed I really don't or can't afford to be closed on most of those optional holidays.

Oh yeah, I have been to some of those Oktoberfest weekend parties.... it seems like they go on forever... like every weekend and more for the entire month.... the Germans seem to be very serious about it!!!!

My weekend will be mostly indoors, it is cold up here.... last night it was in the low to mie-20's and very heavy frost on the ground when I woke up this morning and looked out the window it looked like it was snow but the skies were clear.   We had some snow last week and more is forecasted next week.   This is awfully early for winter to starting hitting this fast.   I am prepared.... warm clothes, propane fireplace, cozy chair ... etc.

My "hot and sweaty" picture montage got derailed over the summer.  I am still keeping the photos that I have collected in a folder but I just have not gotten my head around getting going on the project... it is a bigger job than I estimated at first.....   it will be lots of fun when and if I get it on a thread here.

Your motorcycle picture does indeed show a hot mama that would be very appropriate....

I took the bike today because our weather is changing. You had snow last week, we are expecting some this coming week and riding season is getting short.

All this talk of fall has me missing the beauty and fun of the temperate fall with the hibernation outdoor activity during winter lurking behind. Am currently in Europe enjoying the very comfortable fall here (60-70F / 15-20C) weather.

Tia - nice to finally see you and Sweet Rose together. I had only heard about Sweet Rose up to now. For me fall means a time for biking too, but of the self-powered kind. It's finally cool enough in my neck of the woods to not melt on a morning ride.

Danielle - I enjoyed all of your activities of summer. It will be interesting to get the inside on Alaskan life in the winter.

Regarding this fall, winter has been arriving quite early, it was like a switch was thrown from fairly decent weather in early September to cold winter-like weather with no moderate autumn temperature in-between.

You are always welcome on my thread... please visit often and feel free to post your thoughts.

Monday Morning UPDATE...  6:00AM,  October O8, 2018

Good morning to all of my followers...... Sunrise is not until 8:30am and it is still dark here.
It was barely  18 degrees F  here this morning... burrrrr.... heavy coat and gloves when I leave for work this morning..  Winter has arrived for sure but not officially yet.... we went from late summer to early winter in a flash.

Yep, even though many of my USA followers have the day off... Columbus Day holiday... but only the banks and government offices here honor that day.... for restaurants, retail, and service industries it is business as usual... so I am working this morning...   For my lucky friends that have today off, please continue to enjoy your 3 day long-weekend.

Even though summer appears to be long gone I always enjoy the change of seasons....

Monday afternoon update:  According to the weather people, the temps tonight and early Tuesday morning will be just a little warmer at 21 degrees F !!!!  I am actually looking forward to winter... a winter wonderland of fun in the snow.  Plus, Christmas time just doesn't look right with sunny hot weather and palm trees.... at least not to this northern girl.

Danielle, I too am partial to a white Christmas.  I was raised in Seattle and didn't even know what that bright thing in the sky was until we moved to California when I was 8.
I do have to admit Christmas in Hawaii is pretty nice though.

I am from Chicago, but lived in SoCal for over 9 years. I missed Christmas in the winter weather. Shopping for a Christmas tree on an 80 degree sunny day while wearing shorts, sandals and tee shirt - it just wasn't the same. Driving through Beverly Hills, looking at lights on houses that had spray snow on their lawns just didn't replace the Christmas cold and the smell of pine in the air. Honestly, I was happy to move back to the Midwest. Although, it was nice to wear a pretty gauze dress and cute sandals during January. But home's not where the weather is, is it?

Great looking coat... I am terrible about guessing about prices....
....but if I had to guess... perhaps $50
It does look very nice.  I love the longer coats like that, keeps my butt and upper legs warmer too.
