Dear Readers and Followers:

A big part of having a positive attitude is a result of FRIENDSHIPS that we develop.
I trust that the following is encouraging you to develop more close and supportive friends in your life.
Hugs and well wishes,
Danielle

    A Friend is a person who goes around saying nice things about you behind your back.
    A Friend is one who knows all about you, and likes you just the same.
    A Friend is one who will continue to talk to you or meet with you though they know that they are missing their favorite television program or sports game.

    A Friend gives ----
          a hand when you need it;
          a smile when you are sad;
          a lift when you are weary;
          a song when you are glad;
          a help, and a shoulder to lean on when you falter;
          a hug, a word, and a listening ear when you are blue;
          a hope for the dreams that are special to you.

A wonderfully wonderful sentiment.  Knowing you are a friend of mine makes this all the better.
Thank you for sharing this for everyone to reflect on.

I learn something new everyday, and everyday I feel dumber. I'm guessing in another 30 years, I will feel like the dumbest person in the universe.

Dear Donica:
You are saying what we can all say as we get older....   older and wiser!!!

When we stop learning, we stop striving to be a better person....
When we stop learning, we stop living.

As we go through life, we may have more answers but the new questions keep coming even faster.
The "more that we know" results in the"more that we do not know."

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this thread, you are always welcome here.
Hugs,
Danielle

Hello again Donica and Danielle

I agree with your views and experience entirely and it reminds of the song by Johnny Nash which began:

There are more questions than answers
Pictures in my mind I will not show
There are more questions than answers
And the more I find out the less I know
Yeah the more I find out the less I know

Hugs to all

Pamela

Learning something new every day is a wonderful thing.

Recognizing how much we do not know, how much there is still to learn is enlightening, and something I would celebrate.  So very much still to see, do, and learn in this universe!

I embrace my lack of knowledge as opportunity, a chance to enjoy the pleasure of filling as I explore and learn more of myself, my world, and all that is.
Earth my body, water my blood, air my breath and fire my spirit.

My personal transition path included medical changes.  The path others take may require no medical intervention, or different care.  We each find our own path. I provide these dates for the curious.

I'm with you on this 100% Sister!  The day I stop learning is the day I draw my last breath!
But now old friends they're acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I've changed
Well something's lost, but something's gained
In living every day.

Learning is essential to keeping the mind youthful and in good shape. I believe it is important to keep the body learning to. Right now I am sitting on a Exercise ball and have replaced sitting in a chair. It is a really good passive workout that has helped my posture. All these things make me feel better about myself.

Here's something I read when I was a kid, and I've never forgotten it. Jack London fans may recognize it.

"They had hurt only the flesh of him. Beneath the flesh the spirit had still raged, splendid and invincible."

No matter what happens, the spirit is indomitable. No enemy can steal it, replace it, or even hope to touch it. Feed it well and it will never break or falter.
"If the freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter."

Is that part yours? Its inspirational!
As a child prayed to be a girl- now the prayer is being answered - 40 years later !

The last bit is, yeah. London can be a right downer, but he was always fairly inspirational to me.

The positive mindset thread is such a great collection of quotes and thoughts that are so good to share.
I found one which I think fits in here, when we are along our journey.
From Robert Holden
"Beware of the destination addiction, a preoccupation with the idea that happiness is in the next place, the next job, and the next partner. Until you give up the idea that happiness is somewhere else, it will never be where you are."

I have found myself in this frame of mind until I get a reality check to remind of what I have done.

I recently stumbled over one thought I really love and it is such a great match to who I am trying hard to be:

The World Is Filled With Nice People. If You Can't Find One, Be One.

I should add, that even though I found so many nice people, I am still trying to be a nice person.

Hugs,

Sarah

Dear Sarah:
Thank you for sharing your helpful thoughts.
It is important that we personally make the effort to be all the things that we desire to see in others that we come across in our life journey.

...as you indicated we need to endeavor be a "nice" person.
... in addition there are many positive attributes that we should strive for which include being friendly, encouraging to others, helping those in need, being sympathetic and having empathy for those going through difficult times, being ready to lend an ear and a shoulder to lean on (and a hug) to those that that are in their dark emotional times, etc, etc.

All of that is what I envisioned when I started this thread.
I appreciate you contributing to this thread and I am always encouraged to see and read the many many various thoughts that all the readers and followers post here.

Hugs for you and hugs and well wishes to all.
Danielle

Dear Jess:
Yes indeed, your posted thoughts are so important ... and frankly is a statement of not only what this world needs more of but summarizes what has been happening in this world and how we all need to show love, not hate.

I have always liked what you have written on your profile signature line:
"If you go out looking for friends, you are going to find they are very scarce.  If you go out to be a friend, you'll find them everywhere."

Thank you for sharing always being a good example here on the forums.

This is a great quote!  The one constant I have found on this journey is all the wonderful and kind people I have met.
But now old friends they're acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I've changed
Well something's lost, but something's gained
In living every day.
