Hello everybody! i've been lurking this forum for mooonths, and i'm finally to the point of my transition where I have to pick an FFS surgeon and its EXCEEDINGLY DIFFICULT.

I have a strong jaw and chin, amd its the part or my face that needs to be feminized the most. I have narrowed it down to three maxfac surgeons, but IDK who to choose! Lees jaws can seem too tight/done, Deschamps sometimes doesnt do enough to it, and sometimes Van de Vens have sagging under skin... theyre all wonderful surgeons, but I need the person who can do the best with my lower face. That being said obviously they dont always have these results theyre just common trends ive noticed in all the before/afters ive studied!

Anybody with experience consulting or going to these doctors that could help me out please?? Who is he best at lower face?

also open to new suggestions!

Thank you so much!! xoxo

Hello rosebyanyothername, welcome to Susan's!

I am not sure which country you're in but by listing 2 surgeons in the US and 1 in Europe you're already doing something I did, which is don't limit an important decision to geography if at all possible.  When I was making my decisions I read many previous threads to help narrow down my list of potential surgeons, and then visited my top 2 choices (one in Boston, one in Spain).  I firmly believe there is no automatic answer for everyone - this all depends on several individual factors and your perceptions of yourself.

You won't have an accurate answer with a specific surgeon until you have an evaluation.  Skype is an option, although I found it was valuable to meet in person so they could directly check some characteristics, and in one case ran a set of CT scans as part of their in-person evaluation process.

I'd be skeptical of anyone saying "always go to surgeon _____ for the best lower face results" (regardless of patient's age, ethnic background, specific goals and other factors).  I don't think that's a valid way to answer a complex question.

Since this was your first post I'll add information containing site guidelines, and to help with navigation.

When you get a chance it would be great if you introduce yourself in the Introductions Forum.

Glad you're finally here!  Always great to see an unlurking.  ;)

Thanks! I sort of disagree with that though, I really am looking for specific experiences with the surgeons listed. Lower jaw is a tough area and I think that these three are generally better at it than the rest. Ive already consulted with Lee.

Anyway if anyone can answer my original question it would be appreciated! Thanks again

I also think that the Argentinean doctors are worth considering when it comes to lower face. They are both very good. Also facial team in Spain has some amazing scan results. The two American doctors you have listed have very limited results available. The Belgian doctor seems to be good with lower faces even though I find his foreheads/ noses strange. I wish you luck.

I don't have experience with any of the surgeons you mentioned, however I have a comment about your statement regarding post surgery sagging skin; if you  have aggressive bone work done sagging skin after surgery may happen, because pre op there was more bone filling out the skin, and when a good amount is removed the skin will sag; however if you are young enough there may be enough elasticity in your skin for it to redrape itself firmly against the jaw and chin again overtime, but if it doesn't you will require a facelift, and a lot of surgeons do not advise doing a facelift at the same time, because of the post op swelling, which would negate the effects of the facelift, because when the post op swelling dissipates you could still have loose skin, which may require another facelift to correct.

Some surgeons seem to cause it more than others, a sagginess below and behind the chin. But, what age does the skin stop snapping back? And how long does that take? A few months? I'm in my late 20's, few years shy of 30.

You have to hunt them down, but they exist. You also see more in their office. Anyway, who are the Argentinean doctors? Facial Team doesn't do enough to the chin/jaw for my tastes, and they want you to hair transplant there but their hair transplants are average at best. I've seen the results in person.

Also WHY do I have to answer a small quiz and do math every time I want to post lol. :(

Depending on your skin quality, you should be fine at your age; it takes about a year for most of the post op swelling to dissipate, and it could take a little longer for the skin to fully tighten up, but it could happen sooner, it just depends on your body's ability to heal.

Dr MDM and Dr Rossi, both in Buenos Aires do amazing jobs when it comes to lower face, even though there are more results of Dr MDM available to compare. I would strongly consider both of them if I were to undergo an aggressive FFS. I said that the scans of FT show some amazing results. For some reason the actual results from the photos are average when it comes to the lower face for my tastes.

I personally wouldn't care about the scans too much. Actual flesh and bone in person is more important.
From my very limited opinion, whether you see results or a change from a certain surgeon really varies. What I mean is, everyone's results are different. I've seen good results from surgeons and sometimes I don't see what was done. It could be the same surgeon but a different patient. I don't understand or know what happens with that.

I think Lee is as good as Braly but Braly is the most expensive so I'd go to Lee. You also have Keojampa in LA, he is great.

I noticed you recommend Dr Keojampa to everybody. Do you have any first hand experience with him?
