life after death? reincarnation? your soul goes to a garage in Buffalo? (ref: George Carlin ) help me out here... sometimes i feel i'll become part of a timeless extraterrestrial soup, sort of like a speck of pepper, dropped in to add a little flavor. a d you? where will you go, what will you do, how long will it take, how long will it last, would you like to come back again?

Who knows?  Many have ideas, but lack any and all proof.  Either way, any way, you'll find out soon enough.  Why rush it?
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

I like your speck of pepper analogy...sounds about right to me. I believe that we're just a bio/electrical being with too much time on our hands to think about. We like to think that we humans are somehow ever important and hence we must have someplace to go after we leave this plane of existence...but then...I'm cynical most days...

Peace and love,

That's the big one, isn't it.

Personally, I believe "I" is just a construct of memory and experience that gets formed at birth and grows with you. We attach a lot more value to it than I think it deserves.

As to it continuing after death. I'm sure it does in some form. The latest advances in theoretical physics suggest that everything, every moment and place in space and time is co-terminant. My past, present and future all exist right now in a never-ending present. Whether you express that idea via the Holographic Principle or quantum singularity doesn't really matter, but what it does mean is that "I", and indeed all the "I"s I might reincarnate as exist forever, right now, and that this I should, in theory, be able to access them all.

Boggles the mind, but it makes the ride fun. If you're interested in this. Do yourself a favour and pick up String Theorist Brian Greene's books "The Elegant Universe" and "The Fabric of the Cosmos" He also did a documentary for PBS Nova, which you can view online at their website. For the more metaphysical bent on the matter, get a hold of "The Holographic Universe" and "The Science of the Craft". I can't remember the authors names, but both make very compelling links between magick/spirituality and the direction modern physics is taking these days.

Also feel free to to PM me if you wanna chat about this stuff. I LIVE for metaphysics.

I don't know. I just want go to the ground. I don't want to feel anything. I don't want to remember anything. I don't want to know anything.
Existence is pain. I want out.

i too am a christian.. the bible talks about getting a new body... one not made with human hands, but made by god. it  says that our soul constantly groans wanting to be clothed in this new body....  i believe that in the next life i will be a genetic woman with a body that fits perfectly. ;D
Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.

I'm not going nowhere  :)
I'm going to run out of options on the life front, then my body will be disposed of, my mind and all its contents be gone and the only trace of me will be in any memories and stuffs I leave.
Just as it should be.

There's a pretty oak tree out in my front yard.  It's probably 80 or 90 years old and it has another 150 or so to go.  My ashes will go there to help feed the tree.  Who knows what I'll become when the oak tree dies.

I'm loving it.  :)

Ideally I personally would like to go toooo an anime/video game world when I leave this Earth.  A cross between Shambala in Uncharted 2 and the Moon Kingdom in Sailor Moon.  The best waay to describe it is like a Taj Mahal in a colonized jungle on a remote planet in Space but the sky with be bluish green.

This is my favorite thread in the philosophy section so far even if it's old.  :)

lol It does? Reference plzz - i somehow highly doubt He takes gender requests too!

I know EXACTLY where i'm going when the time comes -
one-way Columbia South America (have friends will travel) . . .

to SELF-MEDICATE as usual !

( ps: Ron Paul For President 2012 wants to de-legalize "the drug war", would rather "end up" here! )

"But it's no use now," thought poor Alice, "to pretend be two people!
"Why, there's hardly enough of me left to make one respectable person!"
