Periodically we trans women are concerned with our height. I am 5 ft 11 in (180 cm) so when out in public I generally feel like I am a tall woman and concerned that it's a flag that indicates that i am a T-woman. Of course, I am concerned about a lot of other flags too. But the height is one that immediately sticks out (up). I travel in and through Europe quite a bit. Am currently here for a conference. Went to the grocery to pick up some supplies for my rental apartment, and was struck with the number of women that I encountered that are are taller than me. Was not there in femme mode, but was very conscious of the height issue. I often notice this in airports as well.

So maybe height is an overblown concern.

Saw that the avg height for women in Europe is 5'6", which means for every 5 foot tall woman there is a 6 foot tall one.

Certainly I'm much taller than average (I'm 6'2") but if I'm at the mall or whatever, I almost always see at least a few women close to my height and I have seen a few taller than me.

Yup, all the women on my mom and dad's side family are 5'10 and above... except my mom, she's 5'0. However her twin brother is 6'2.  I was told a few years ago, by my 5'11 friend, "rock the heels, stand up straight, and think supermodel". Just keep a polished appearance because you will draw attention. They won't notice you're Trans, because you're beautiful (first and foremost).
At what point did my life go Looney Tunes? How did it happen? Who's to blame?... Batman, that's who. Batman! It's always been Batman! Ruining my life, spoiling my fun! >:-)

In Western society a person is given the benefit of the doubt of being male unless they exhibit enough gender cues to be perceived as female. Tallness is a very strong male visual cue. Cigender or MTF, all tall women have to play up their femininity to counterbalance their tallness so they are consistently seen as women.

I'm 6'5, and I've never met a women taller. I've seen a couple around my height, but they're built differently.  At some point, who cares if one fits a paradigm. Just be who you are. That said, clothes and shoes can be a challenge, especially if one forgoes pants. I hate pants for the most part.

Hmmm, instead of posting here on the "Tallness" thread
I think that I need to find a "Shortness" thread instead!!!

I am 5' 4" which allows me to wear my highest heels and still be shorter than most of my romantic interests.

Tall, short, skinny, robust, etc .....
.....all of that is far less important that who we are "inside" and how we treat others.

Hugs,
Danielle

5'4'' wow that is a nice height. That is the same height as my sister. I wish I was 5'4''. Unfortunately am 5'7'' tall which is always in my mind. If I was shorter that would make me feel more feminine.

According to Wikipedia on heights for different countries am consider average male height in Puerto Rico. (am Puerto Rican) I wish I can be the same height as my sister.

If I was to walk around in Puerto Rico I would feel tall in comparison to other women. I can definitely sympathize with how most of you girls feel about not being average female height.

I am (or was) 6'1" and am not even the tallest woman at my work - there are 3 other girls the same or taller than me.  i live in western Europe.  i am tall for a woman but my height isn't such that i am an outlier.

I'm about 5'8". I feel tall next to my bio sisters sure, but generally in public I'm not too tall. I see taller women daily, some much taller. I also noticed it's rare for a tall woman to have short hair. But I have seen some. As someone said above, for any woman, the more feminine cues there are the less likely to be misgendered. But I also think a person should wear their hair how they like.

I used to be 5'10", and now I'm 5'9" (as you get older you lose some height).  When I started transitioning in the late 90s, I felt a little awkward about my height, but I began to realize (from getting out in the world more, instead of being the hermit I had become pre-transition) that there are plenty of tall women.  Maybe it's because I live in a metropolitan area, but I encounter women who are as tall, or taller than me, quite often.  At work, my female (departmental) coworker is 5"10", and the female engineering intern we have (through one of the local high schools), is this 6'2" Amazon teenager!  One of female clerks I see at my favorite supermarket looks like she's 6'3".  At the local malls, I always run into these 5'10" to 6' plus tall women with supermodel figures (I wish I looked half as good as they do).  So no, I don't feel overly tall nowadays - especially since I encounter women I have to look up at, to talk to.   :)

Halllo.

To be tall is the coolest way to be. I am 180cm and am cool to. I am from Germany and a lot of women are tall with beauty. Just be happy and walk your head up high and never like to be upset about you.

Dank.

I'm 5'9'', and rocking 3'' heels whenever I go out! Long legs standard torso build... pretty androgynous. Usually sporting elegant dresses and skirts, paired with detailed fishnet stockings (usually garter belt styles). Showing some legs!

So instead of having a height complex, I've learnt to put that rather ''masculine'' feature in highlight and feminizing it!

Hi,

I am 6'2" the last time I checked. I work with a lot of X and Z gens, over 50% of the 16,000 staff. I would guess females are 90% and their height is much higher than my generation. There are some pretty tall woman where I work.

I think having good posture is important and not slouching. Wear clothing that is flattering and appropriate. I like the NY and co tall cloths and dress well at work and wear fitted tops and jeans/shorts at home and out.

I try to eat healthy and exercise. I hiked over 5 miles today with an 85 pound pack and I have a spinning class tomorrow. My BMI is 26. I try to make the most of what I have.

I really can not change my height but I can optimize what I have. Do your best and do not sweat the rest.

I'm also 6'5" and have met (as of yesterday) 3 cis women that were taller than me. One of them being Lindsey Hayward who is 6'8". The latest one I met works at a beauty supply store in my area. She is young at 20 years old and at least an inch taller than me and also a much larger size than me.

Parts are the hardest especially with a 38" inseam. Most of my pants and leggings (oh how I love leggings) I get from Long Tall Sally.

The funny part is that I've never met a taller transgender woman than me.

My inseam is 34". I have a little longer torso than normal. Lost a lot of weight though. Down 160lbs. At 222lbs, I am a size 18/16 now depending on who makes it and skirts are 16 pretty much, tops 18, dresses 18 tall.  Finally out of the plus territory.
