Can you self refer to Gender Identity Clinic (London)?

I've had a referral form in my drawer for about 18 months.
I know you usually get a GP to refer you, but I've always used private counselling and I was advised by a therapist to be careful of GPs as they now share your health records across all sorts of State services.

So, can you actually self refer..or will it work against you - or will you even be rejected?

I'm being told there is a brand new form (October 2018) that supercedes what you probably have. They'll need your current GP and relevant background information.

The CX GIC site suggests referal can be by either a GP or another healthcare professional. The new 5 page form looks quite comprehensive.

FWIW I've never had any issue declaring my transition status to any NHS or private UK doctor or nurse, they have all been respectful and polite.

Educate yourself on the current/latest care pathway on the GMC site as your GP may well not know this. X

I've booked GP appointment for Thursday morning and said I want referred to GIC.

I haven't discussed this with my wife.

Scared..but surely doing something better than nothing..even if I don;t know where it will all end?

Keeping this from your wife is a ticking time bomb. The conventional wisdom is that your relationship is built on trust, and that open and honest communication, no matter how painful, is the only way your marriage will survive. Probably not what you want to hear, but neither is "You lied to me" from your spouse. Tread carefully.
