Are we again seeking to define the perfect female symmetry and measurements?  Is the purpose of threads like this to make others whose measurements don't exactly fit that "ideal" feel less-than-feminine?  I truly wonder.

When will we have a thread that says, "Nanny-nanny-pooh-pooh, I'm more femme than you-oo!!"?  It can't be far away.

I don't know what my shoulder circumference is and I don't consider it a problem.  Grandmother Estrogen has treated me well.  I have a band size of 46 inches with a full C-cup, so I have a nice, easy-to-see "shelf."

My hips are about 48 with thighs and legs that have a nice taper and curvature.

When my waist is where I want it I will be more than happy with myself.  I'm happy right now.  The next stop for me is being ecstatic with myself.

Shall we measure in fractals?

BTW, I don't play pro football, thank you.  I don't even play minor league.

Wing Walker, I'm sorry if my post seemed hurtful or misintentioned, it really wasn't I promise that. I would never knowingly do that to anyone here. I should not have used the term "linebacker" and I apologize for that, it was a stupid thing to say. I am just trying to figure some things out, I'm not as far along as most of you. I am just trying to get an idea of how much muscle I might lose and how my muscle ratio compares to other people, that's all. I really, sincerely didn't mean for anyone to take offense to my question. I usually post in my Blog where I feel a little safer posting. I kind of feel like that's my safe zone to post whatever I want, but I'm trying to be a little more public in the forums too.

Please just bear with me, I'll figure it out sooner or later, Meghan

Meghan, please forgive me for taking umbrage with your posting.  I know you well enough to know that you harbor no ill will toward anyone.

As for your question, I believe the answer to be as individual as retina scans.

Enjoy your transition and the wonderment that you are experiencing and forgive me for being such a pain-in-the-ass.  Every so often I fall off of my little biplane. :embarrassed:

Most sincerely,

Wing Walker

Hi shanetastic
That was why I came by this thread was to do what I could to change the energy. Now to let the good folks here go back to their topic. I'll see ya, hon.

Wing Walker,
I respect that you don't like comparing measurements
But, some do and it you have to respect this EQUALLY.
I want to know those things, for fun, to make me feel better, etc.
If you feel this is offensive. Don't read the thread or start a new thread.
I think that not talking about this would be the epithome of PCness
(actually a good use of the term).

Also, in this case, people just want to know if HRT makes
muscles go down (it does), what's so bad about this!!!

Being above average population measurements in height
I know how annoying it can be to hear people talking about
the average being 5 foot 5. Yet that's what the numbers are,
unchangeable, its how I react to this, not the numbers themselves
that makes either this knowledge irritating or a oh well, moment.

I'm sure its  annoying if a 400 pound person hears about the average
weight being 150 pounds. But, that doesn't change the
numbers, they are what they are without and they don't
jusge people. We are the one's putting judgement on
weather 38 inch shoulders are better or not, not the numbers
themselves.

Has the subject here gone to cattiness?

Huh! Disagreeing and stating what the thread point is and it is a valid thread, is Cattiness?....
OK...
Please point to me where that alledged cattiness is so I can delete it from this earth  ::)

Hey Meghan,

I'm in much the same position as you - early in transition and anxious to know what the future holds, be it from a physical perspective or otherwise. While I agree with some of the posts that there is no such thing as "ideal female measurements", we are coming from a place of total incoherence, and we need things to strive for, because lets be honest: transitioning is a daunting thing to undertake, even if the alternative is, despair and unhappiness, or worse.

So don't apologise for trying to figure out kinda "how far you are along the journey". I think people further along the road can sometimes forget (or perhaps prefer not to remember) that it's a long one.

BTW, I'm 181 cm tall (just shy of 6 feet) with a shoulder measure of about 43-44 ish. Pretty average... for a guy!!! :`( ... but we'll get there.

I had already made my apology to Meghan.  Was there a reason for "piling-on?"  BTW, what is PCness?

Going back to the start of this topic (you can tell I'm new 'cos I'm a big girley swot)

As genetic women come in all shapes and sizes does it really matter what our shoulder circumference is? I would imagine  mine is pretty big although I've not measured it yet. The Hormones and losing weight will see to any issues I have there. Together with lose fitting clothes.

They will have been mentioned hundreds of times, but there are several masculine features that  I cannot imagine how to downplay as a new transitioner.

Baldness can be covered by a wig but it is far from the best solution.

My feet are size 11 (UK) how do I make them less noticeable.

Big nises run in my family so i suppose the only answer for that is plastic surgury

Myu hans are also huge

Are there any easy answers?

Don't attract attention to them.  Plenty of shoes come more or less unisex, Doc Martens are a prime example...

Actually, lose fitting close make you look larger; better to be selectively large
(say to hide bulging shoulders) and be tighter elsewhere (i don't mean skin tight
which indeed is not for all). If you've got a big
stomach, then its gets more complicated.
The best for a TS in general is tighter upstairs with a A line skirt downstair.

I was big for a man and since hormones I have lost a lot of muscle. I would still be considered big for a man now I'm a big woman. Yet, everyday I see women who are the same size as me. I can find clothes off the rack and on sale too.
Before, I was 260 lbs, I wore a 3X shirt or jacket, my biceps at the biggest were 19 inches before hormones they kind of dwindled down to 17 to 18 inches. I had a 38 inch waist, that is what my pants were. My calves were 15 inches and my thighs were 25 inches. I'm was 6 ft tall, but over time I am down to 5'10". I shrank, it happens.
Now, I'm down to 200 lbs and I wear xtra large to 1X tops. my pants are size 14 long. I measured my arms this morning, the first time in years and they were 15 inches. I still have the biceps and I have been on hormones for 8 years now. My legs, well they look the same, I know they have gone down a bit, I was to mad after measuring my arms to measure my legs.
What I'm getting at is that all this measuring is nothing but a bunch of crap, take it to a Gym with all the testosterone. I go out everyday as a woman and no one pays any attention to my over size arms or my big chest and shoulders. The only one who looks at them is me. I only get down on myself every once in a while. No, losing weight will not bring them any smaller, I'm big boned. Size 15 ring finger. Again, I have been sized for a womans ring and I get it, pay a little more for it, but I paid a little more for a mans ring. I don't hear any comments to me and if they were commenting behind my back, oh well, it wasn't for my ears.

Sheila,
You have lost massive ammount of muscles and may still lose more...
19 -> 15 inch bicep means you've lost more muscles in your bicep than
you now have!

I used to be exactly that height. About a year after beginning HRT, my height was down to 5'10". By about a year and a half later, my dress size went down from 18 to 14, my bra size went from 40A to 38B. Modest improvements. I checked the shoulders just now... still 43...

As for biceps data in the shoulder measurments, I don't think it would make much difference. The measurement is taken at the top ends of the biceps, where they thin out over the bone. Wouldn't be much biceps there anyway.
Here's what I find about compromise--

eventually you'll find
you may as well feel good;
you may as well have some pride

Size 9 should NOT fit you with a 38 inch waist;
are you calculating your waist near the belly button (the female waist)
or lower the male waist? Even there, there is usually only a few inch difff
so it wouldn't explain this.

Size 9, using catalog sizing, the closest thing to a
standard in this out of control world of vanity sizing is
about a 29 inch waist in the US I believe, for hip huggers
a their lower waist is probably 31 inch..  But, if you've
got love handles don't buy them, since you'll then
get the dreased muffin top.

Fitting a size 9 must be out of control vanity sizing.

Sheila, just how in the world did you lose weight on HRT? It used to be easy for me, even 2 years ago, but now...Geez, I hate scales.
  •

Sheila

Nickie, that was four years ago and I was way overweight. I have been trying to lose weight now with not much success. It seems that if I exercise I gain weight. My wife who has gone through menopause loses weight like I use to. She laughs at me as she says, see what woman go through on weight loss programs. It is hard and I'm still trying. I have thrown a scale out last year and said I was not going to look at another scale, but I bought another one this last summer.

There is one answer sheila.
Your metabolism is too low.
You need more muscle mass
(same reason why diets alone, or most women's
exercise program are not very efficient).
Why not build you buttocks, upper legs and core muscles.
Also, too low levels of estrogen reduces metabolism significantly.
Which is menopausal women have such a pouch and
younger women, unless they're significantly overweight,
have a define waist.

Ok, so I was going to do a poll on this, but I figured that the answers would be so varied it would just be easier to post it here. I'm really noticing how broad my shoulders are and I'm curious to see how they compare to others. Do many of us have this problem? I've lost a lot of weight, but it seems like my upper body doesn't really burn that much fat when I lose weight. So, I was trying to get an idea of height compared to shoulder circumference. I should probably compare weight too, but there's no way I'm asking people to post their weight on here! So, I'm 5'6" and I measured my shoulder circumference right at the top of the shoulders and they were....45"...GASP!!! I think there are NFL players with smaller shoulder circumference than me, lol. Anyway, just curious what other people are at :) Meghan

I don't have any previous measurements to to compare with but my current shoulder circumference is 53" And you "GASP"ed at 45". ;)  I'm 5'9" tall and been on HRT for 10 years. We come in all shapes and sizes but we're still women.

Well dahling now that you mention it I do have my natural waist at navel level. My hips are slowly filling out, life is... if not good, at least it's pretty OK.

Kudos for having the ovaries to come out and say this. But really, haven't all online transgender forums been living on a steady diet of those for years already?

I'm sharing my experiences as someone who went from moderately bad to moderately good. I have found out how HRT can help within this limited range at least.
