So, I'm about to turn 18 and I'm a male looking to become a M2F. I know my family won't like my transition due to religious beliefs. In my community, there are no transgender people. I'm looking for another guy my age who also wants to become a M2F to go through this transition together. I live in a pretty big city in the Midwestern U.S.A.
Any suggestions about finding a partner to do this with like me?

Hi, Joseph2833!

Welcome to Susan's Place.

If you are living on your own and not financially dependent on your family, then once you turn 18, they will have no say in your transition.

The most common and most recommended starting point for transitioning is to talk to a gender therapist.  Along with the essential functions of helping you figure out exectly what you want and how to get it, they can also put you in touch with support groups.

Another way to find support groups or supportive individuals is to contact a Pride or LGBT advocacy group in your city.  All moderate-to-large cities will have one.

Please feel free to stop by the Introductions forum to tell the members about yourself.  Here is some information that we like to share with new members:

Welcome to Susan's Place. You might not find anyone who wants to be close to you while you go through your transition however you should consider a support group. A support group will provide you with others that you can share with and you will have a much greater variety of information. It's also possible you will be able find group therapy where you will be able to receive a great deal of support. Be open to other sources of information as the more people in your life, the easer the transition will be.
