It is interesting that some societies used harder rock to carve softer rocks.
Egyptians at times used some rock harder than granite to cut away on granite.  I do not think there is a record of them using diamonds.  It must have been hard and boring work to make those one piece solid granite obelisks, cutting away by using just harder rocks.

Others in later centuries used copper tools to cut rock like sandstone, granite, and limestone.

Next time you go outside in the cold, please make certain that you wear some good warm gloves....

Took me almost 15mins to remove the frozen snow off the roof, screen and bonnet. My hands were frozen by then, still the car was nice and warm. Ordered a refurbished Ninja air fryer from Ninja, looks like its a returned unit due to damage so it might have some scratches but at £71 instead of £145 I will take that. Anyway its still very cold out there, put the heater on in the bedroom again.

Only a thin cover of snow here, reporter said a couple of inches on the to of the hills. Turning to rain later and warming up, not sure if I am going out yet. Still coughed up some rubbish this morning ,hope that was some remnants and infection has cleared.

The snow here has slowed down and should end today. We have about a foot on the ground. When I woke up this morning, it was brutally cold. It has now warmed up to 5F (-15C), but we won't see the sun until tomorrow. Today is a good day to stay indoors and do laundry.

I was going over to my mates to work on the T but he has had to cancel as he has caught the lurgy now. Went to the workshop yesterday and it has water run under the door again due to the stupid amount of rain Sun night, nothing damaged but floor is to wet to do any work on the panel van. 2 more days staying home then, very cold today and tomorrow freezing all day.

Sold some carbs and manifolds for a VW , bloke coming to pick them up sometime this afternoon so have to go to the workshop. Hope my space heater works as its only just above freezing today. Food shop in a bit, will have to scrape the windscreen on my car first. Good job it has heated seats!

Fet up chmuk again today (as they say around here in local dialect) , freezing fog giving what they call a hoar frost on power cables and trees. Staying in the warm again, not helping me lose any weight though!
 Sold some parts so now I can buy 2 engines and a gearbox for the new hotrod build, bit of a quandary though as I could buy the bits I need to finish some work on the Countryman. But then once the panel van is sold I can get those bits where as I can get the engines for a very good price that I doubt will happen again. mmmmm.

Feezing  frog again, -3C last night but in Scotland it was -14C . Panic call from mum, my gas is about to run out and they cant deliver till Sunday and my electric fires not working. She ordered the gas bottles on 27th Dec and they are so busy they are working 7days a week to get the orders out, well she has nearly emptied the next 2 bottles. Back to the electric fire, it has 3 switches that turn on low, high and on. After getting cross with her as she didnt understand that they turned the heat off I got her to turn them on and it works! I would have got her to turn of the hot water tank to save gas but there is no way that she would understand even though she has been shown before. She is just useless with tech, well she will be 89 in March.
 Bit of house work to do today, veg to cook for dinner and a parcel to sort . Starting to warm up from tomorrow afternoon and will be double figure temps Mon so will be down my workshop.

My dad was great with 'old' tech, pre-calc (before calculators). Restoring cars, rebuilding engines. He could even dowse for water. He was a navigator in the US Air Force long before GPS. Looking at the stars through a window at night while flying over water to determine the correct course to their airfield. He never owned a computer, even a smart phone confused him. A simple flip-phone was his pinnacle of technical achievement, as long as he didn't have to text or type anything. He was from a different time, and we will all be there at some point in our lives.
