This past weekend, I went with my wife to a Boden Sample Sale. Picture a middle school cafeteria with tables piled with hundreds of dresses, slacks, blouses, jackets, coats and shoes....and 100+ women rifling through them. I was in my androgynous mode, feeling a little awkward but split away from my wife since we wear different sizes. After finding 6 dresses and draping them over my arm I found my wife and we went to a place along the wall to look through what we'd found.

No dressing rooms and women were stripping down to their underwear all around the room to try things on. My wife looked at me and said "No one is watching you or cares. Try them on." And, so I stripped down to my shorts and t-shirt like everyone else.  :D

I ended up with 3 dresses, my wife 2 dresses and a jacket.

What an experience.
With much love,

Let go of the things that no longer serve you... Let go of the pretense of the false persona, it is not you... Let go of the armor that you have worn for a lifetime, to serve the expectations of others and, to protect the woman inside... She needs protection no longer.... She is tired of hiding and more courageous than you know... Let her prove that to you....Let her step out of the dark and feel the light upon her face.... amg🌸

Flashlights! I'm getting much better about it, but I have difficulty walking past a display of flashlights without checking to see if any of them are on sale. At least I'm not obsessed with keeping fresh batteries for all of them. I think it's related to the decades my soul spent in darkness.

My (current) addiction is definitely clothes. I didn't really think about the need to define my style as a woman when I began transitioning. As a male, it was loose fitting and devoid of colors for the most part.

And then it happened! I found a world where I could express my emotions, my style, my intent through what I was wearing. And, Oh My God!!!!! Colors and patterns and lengths, oh my!!  ;D

My wife taught me how to shop for bargains and never to pay full price for clothes through her example over the years. So, I've shopped smartly but oh have I shopped. And, along the way, there were a few failures. At this point, though, I think my side of the closet and our storage closet has more of my clothes than hers.  ::)

And, a new dress arrives today. The addiction continues.

Welcome to the club sister! I agree it really is an emotional expression/journey and I love it. :)
Quick edit: I have 3 new new dresses since my first post in this thread ... *smiles*

My wife and I experienced a "first" recently. I'd bought a tunic on eBay - the colors and the pattern were just gorgeous but when it arrived the sizing was horribly off. I resembled a stuffed sausage in it. It was fairly inexpensive and, on those few times when I have a failure like this, I will put the offending item on our pile to go to Goodwill - my screw-up becomes someone else's win.

My wife noticed the tunic one day and asked if she could try to alter it to fit her - she is, not surprisingly, much smaller than I. She said she absolutely loved the colors/pattern. On Tuesday, we had time around the house so she disappeared to her sewing area. An hour later, she appeared in the den wearing a beautifully altered tunic. It looks amazing on her...I was a bit jealous. Last night, during our weekly Wednesday evening drinks and dinner together at our bar, she wore the tunic with black leggings and looked stunning.

Our first "hand-me-up" clothing experience.  :D

Oh, I get the flashlight addiction. Here in Florida with storms and hurricanes you got to have light when the power goes out. I have switched from battery replace only to rechargeable flashlights. So far so good! BTW, what a cute dress you are wearing in your profile pic! :)

Thanks @Sinclair ! I found the dress at a Ross store in Cleveland, OH. It was damaged, but I fell in love with it, so I bought it. One of our daughters has become a pretty good seamstress, and she fixed it up for me. I posted a full-length photo here: https://www.susans.org/index.php/topic,233104.msg2274950.html#msg2274950

I have a few flashlights from Ryobi which use 4v lithium batteries, and the batteries are interchangeable with other Ryobi lights and tools. Many flashlights use 'permanent' rechargeable batteries, so the flashlight becomes useless when the batteries fail. Living anyplace with frequent storms, it's always a good idea to keep some flashlight around.

That dress is beautiful and you wear it so well. Perfection!

Oh, and I have to admit to having a fair amount of flashlights scattered around our house.  :D

I too like rocks. But, really only two types ... fossils -- which are cool -- and rocks that lead to gold/silver/gems, etc. :)
