Hey! Barbarians get to have fun, too, you know! *Lisbeth puts on her horned helmet and shakes her spear at you*

I'm imagining a rewrite of Cindi Lauper's "Heathens just want to have fun"  >:D

Thought you might enjoy this heathen image I found in google  ;D

Kate Bush is still alive, but its hard to tell, its been like at least 10 years since she put out any new stuff.  I've assumed she is all but retired.  Heck, she only toured once in like '79.

And Cindy Lauper did not write, Girls just wanna have Fun, a fact that has made her pretty bitter I understand.

The guitar riff that the song is built on was used by Muddy Waters for Rolling and Tumbling. Robert Johnson used the same riff for both If I Had Possession Over Judgment Day and Traveling Riverside Blues. I believe the earliest recording of this melody was Minglewood Blues, recorded in 1928 by Gus Cannon's Jug Stompers. I'm sure this was more than any really wanted to know... I'll go back under my rock now...  ;D

Minglewood Blues, recorded in 1928 by Gus Cannon's Jug Stompers

But of course, all good Deadheads know Jerry loved Jug Band music, and the Dead started as a jug band deal, and of course recorded New, New Minglewood Blues, and played it live thoughout their career.

I should have that but don't. I do have quite a lot of music from that era though, so it would be overlap to buy it...

LOL, I'm not a deadhead, although I did like a couple of their albums (Workingman's Dead and American Beauty) when I was growing up. I particularly enjoyed Jerry's recordings w/ David Grisman too. I love old jugband music, it's the coolest stuff.

Trespassers William, "Different Stars"

For those who are not aware, the name "Trespassers William" is a reference to the Winnie the Pooh story "Pooh and Piglet Go Hunting and Nearly Catch a Woozle."

QuoteThe Piglet lived in a very grand house in the middle of a beech-tree, and the beech-tree was in the middle of the forest, and the Piglet lived in the middle of the house. Next to his house was a piece of broken board which had: "TRESPASSERS W" on it. When Christopher Robin asked the Piglet what it meant, he said it was his grandfather's name, and had been in the family for a long time. Christopher Robin said you couldn't be called Trespassers W, and Piglet said yes, you could, because his grandfather was, and it was short for Trespassers Will, which was short for Trespassers William. And his grandfather had had two names in case he lost one -- Trespassers after an uncle, and William after Trespassers.

That's an oldie.  The Isley Brothers were Jimi Hendrix's first pro gig.  He was more or less asked to leave because he drew too much attention when he played.  Imagine that.
