"The use of restrooms and other sex-segregated facilities by people who
are gender-variant is at the core of many cases brought to TLDEF and
not all are as relatively simple to resolve as Farmer's. She is a
woman and identifies as a woman. "The harder cases are when you have a
gender identity that's not matched by your gender expression,"
Silverman said. The group has produced a "restroom access card" for
its clients outlining their legal rights in these situations."
