I'll try and keep this simple and to the point for a change  LoL.

Ive allready come out to my Band, friends, family, and a great deal of my former, soon to be current coworkers in that order.  Im back on HRT again and I guess sence Im allready atuned to it Im recooping pretty quickly.  Ive talked it over with my theripist and she and I agree that Im ready to start my RLT...

At work the only problem is buying a new wardrobe cuz the dress code is very strict and Im a jeans and teeshirt girl... but thats not a big deal.

The problem is Im in a band,  A punkrocker actulay and Im affraid of the crowd reaction... Theres no way I could give up my band and my music... but if the crowd (generaly a roudy bunch to begin with) freaks any possibality of continueing our career opertunity localy is show, and the rest of the band loves it here in El Paso and wont move....

I really just dont know what to do at this point.  I NEED to come out full time, its driveing me nuts but I dont want to endanger what we all have worked so hard for this last 6 years.....

Lynn,

As long as the band is OK with it, just don't say anything to the crowd.  You really don't HAVE to tell them, do you?  They'll be puzzled at first, especially if you dress androgenously (if you haven't been already) and then, IF they figure it out they'll very possibly be impressed.  You can make being transgendered part of your band's image, perhaps.

And if it doesn't work out, you'll still be fine and quite possibly find a better place or band to play in.  Ya neva know!

Either way, Good Luck!

It would be a suden jump...  For shows I had usualy ben going out of my way guy mode wise..... and the sudden change in drummers... same height and build with the exact same style.... Everyone whos seen us before would know.   The issue is killing our local buisness cuz with out it we cant save enough to tour... out of town I dobut Id be noticed... but here  *sigh*   another band is not an option... we truely stick together, and none of them want to move. (owning homes and haveing decent jobs and such)  If it dosnt go over well were done for.

If the music's good, people should come.  You might lose some of them but then you might pick up some new ones.

Do you think your venue might object to the change?  I'm sure there would be other places to play.

I understand what you're up against - it boils down to the basic transition fear of, "What will I lose when I come out?"  No matter what happens it should be for the good as long as you remain true to yourself, if ya ask me.

Of course, I have been mistaken before (Yeah, really!  I'm a CD'er, not a T****Y!)

Well from a performer\entertainment stand point...............Nothing beats drama for great publicity! but one must remember that the crowd is fickle to say the least but in regards to punk I can't really imagine a fan that wouldn't love the concept as long as a girl can truly rock of course.....it just adds to the feeling and life of the scene I think and the whole concept...being a rebel against the grain we are different and thats what makes us punk we are a cut above the norm..and wont conform to what everyone else wants or thinks...or I am I getting that whole scene incorrect????

listen I street race (from time to time) and a lot of the racer that know me now knew me before..and you can't get more macho than a bunch of guys with supped up Honda, chevy's, and VW's So i was affraid to because speed is something I love a(adrenialine thing! I guess) but they still respect my ability to hold my own at speeds over 100MPH so thats all that counts.....if anything that has made me an instant "celebrity" with all of them (another racers word not mines) the hot ->-bleeped-<- with the hot car! LOL

So take the bull by the horns sweetie you can't hide it for much longer!

I probably am worried too much about it LoL.  theres only 3 venues for our type of music in this town and 1 is closed to us. *Shrugs*  Due to my worry the band said theyd all go in drag to my first show after going full time LoL.  I dont really think its necicary but its a nice jesture.  I love those guys so much there great  :)

Im the drummer  :D,  The hormone thing I had hidden by strapping down and stopped takeing off my shirt and doucing myself in water durring shows.  I went off though for 6 months  <no fun at all> but am back on again  2 weeks on sunday  :).   I also do backing vocals... used to do the highs and now that Ive quit smoking again Im working my way back to them again  (did the raspy for a while there)  Seems my band is even more understanding and frustrated with everything than I thought......  Id quote them but I try not to curse anymore but yhey say  F*** El Paso,  Lets go.... Just need the $$$ first  :)

Im not going to say everythings peachy cuz its not...  but Im managing through things now, Life is dealing me more hell in the last 2 months than it had in the last 25 years but with the help of my friends Im standing  strong as I can and I will prevail....

umm, going out on an 80's limb here but didnt it work for Boy George?? And as was pointed out, David Bowie in a skirt didn't hurt anything in his career either. Mind you punk is a different venue, but as long as the crowd is hyped enough it shouldn't matter
