Eugene Smith will spend 25 years in prison for his day of freedom in Holt.
The sentence came after Smith, 33, pleaded guilty in July to charges
of escape, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and grand
theft auto.
Smith's escape in late March from a Georgia sheriff's deputy triggered
an unusual manhunt in Okaloosa and Santa Rosa counties - as Smith is a
man, but escaped dressed as a woman.
