I don't know. Would girls know what guy peeing sounds like?

I've heard guys pee. I mean, it sounds harder, but that's because they're standing and I'm sitting...

Its how it comes out I think. Girls dont get that continuously thick stream I don't think...
I do though... D:

I've heard my dad pee and it wasn't as consistent sounding... I'm confused now.... gaaah...*combusts*

That could be because the older a guy gets, the less consistant he pee becomes.
  •

deviousxen

Well I kind of heard that it sprays out more with girls though..
Could be wrong... I mean... I've never had it. :(

Adam: Makes sense.

Deviousxen: Yeah, it does spray out more I suppose... or rather, I think more of it comes out but with me its consistent. And from being in the woman's room it seems to be generally the same. So I suppose it'd be the be the sound of the weight, not the consistency of it.

Guess so. Wow. What a fascinating topic. :(

Um... I'm not sure you really need to think about this quite so much. I mean, I would think most guys and gals don't pay overly much attention to the sound of each individual pee stream in a public bathroom. It's a case of get in, get emptied, wash hands and get out.

And... in the event you find someone who does hang around in public bathrooms long enough to develop, and make use of an expert ear for urination variation (at the very least enough to differentiate between several flows occuring at once)... well I'm not sure being gender ID'd should be your first concern, whoever you may be, and it might be wise to think about a speedy exit strategy.

And if someone goes so far as to be able to assume gender based on flow rate, bowl harmonics, accoustics, angle of attack, seat height and appliance model number... it might be time to pray for a stun gun or big stick, lol.

Hi,
One thing I think I have learned over the past 61 years is that we can't control what others think about us, me.  I can only have power over what I think about myself.   It also doesn't help to be either or.  Around home I dress how I feel female.   When I go out, I don't want to be picked on or ridiculed, but I also don't want to totally give up my female self.  So I keep my female underclothing and wear simple female jeans or shorts and a tee shirt.   If people see me as male they see me as male if they see me as a butch female thats even better,  but all in all the female in me sometimes needs the male to protect her so when I need that male protection I give it to  myself.   Bathrooms try the one seaters.  I also have been a teacher for years and lately where I live there are a lot of staff restrooms which anyone uses and females in elementary schools use whatever bathroom they choose.

Also remember boys have ways of picking on boys who don't fit.   And girls have girl ways of picking on girls that don't fit.   If your in the girls bathroom you may just be getting the treatment that hurts from the girls that many unpopular girls get.   When you are in the boys bathroom you may be getting the male treatment that boys that don't fit get.   They find the hole in your psychi and shoot for it.  We just have to plug the holes and look out for ourselves in a way that don't put our lives in danger.

Any one male or female who walks on thin ice is likely to find an early grave.

Look after yourself, protect yourself, and be happy.   The older you get life does  not get any simpler.   When I was young I strongly believed it did so I put things off.   Now I am older I see that life has more complexity and I made a mistake.

This is just an old granny reflecting on life,  use what ever makes sense to you.
Michelle
Be true to yourself.  The future will reveal itself in its own due time.    Find the calm at the heart of the storm.    I own my womanhood.

I am a 69-year-old transsexual school teacher grandma & lady.   Ethnically I am half Irish  and half Scandinavian.   I can be a real bitch or quite loving and caring.  I have never taken any hormones or had surgery, I am out 24/7/365.

This two genders thing sucks...

I just went back to school this week and I'm only Nate with my friends. My new binders still haven't come in yet, nor has my package, and it really bugs me seeing that slight curve in my shirts and I could probably deal with it better if I could forget that people aren't seeing me as a guy.

I got "he" and "sir" a couple of times this week because I guess my shirts are baggy enough that you really have to be looking to see my boobs, but today when I was standing in line for food, the lady behind the counter said to the other one "he ordered a veggie pizza" and the other lady was like "...that's not a he, that's a she" and four of them started this whole conversation about how they could tell I was a "girl" especially because black guys usually don't have long straight hair. By long I mean, my hair is maybe 3 inches off my head. It was really rude of them, especially discussing it as though I weren't standing right there waiting for my food. It was seriously depressing, it was like I was just beginning to get confidence in myself and wondering why I really hadn't decided to go as Nate this semester then wham people keep reminding me how much of a "girl" my appearance is no matter how masculine my clothes or my walk.

Even today in one of my classes, one that met for the first time ever, there were these pricks in the corner who laughed when the prof called my name and I corrected him with the "andro" name I've decided to use this semester (Tai) until I can be Nate full time. It was only when my name was called did they realize "oh, that's a 'girl'."

It sucks that everyone sees something as "boy," or "girl" in my case just because of the parts on the outside...

Yeah, I kind of wonder about that same thing, since people have certain preconceptions about race that if they would expect a black guy to have a certain hair style, but I still  get people caling me "he", but thats just cause I look ecentric(my god I gave up on spelling, just stick with math and science) and they think im weird, and then since they see no boobs, they think "male".

And why the hell is everyone talkin about pee...Even IF someone knew the difference(which is unlikely),I highly boubt they would come up to you, and be like" Excuse me, but your pee didnt sound like a normal mans/womans...blah...blah...  .... .... blah."

I don't actually think the sound of your pee is going to give you away. I just think too much, even if it doesn't matter.

Tis good exercise for the brain.

We were talking about this the other day.  Really, prior to realizing you were trans and reading somewhere about the pee sound issue, did you really notice?  I didn't.  Only after reading that I could go, yeah, you know, they're right!  It does sound different!  But does the general population know that or care??

Seriously, when I've been peeing in the ladies room, I can honestly say I've never listened to someone else peeing and thought, gee, she must be mtf because her pee sounds like a man!!  And if women arent' thinking it, surely men are not thinking it.

I love my stp and yes, it makes me sound like a man.  But, lots of issues lately and I haven't used it.

I'm going to a conference in 3 weeks.  I'm hoping I have the guts to use the men's room.  Well, should be easy since my nametag will read Jay!  ;D

My " friend" got death threats for using the mens abd it had nothin to do with pee.
  •

Elwood

WTF? Men don't give a ->-bleeped-<- about who's in the bathroom.

I don't know men who would threaten or beat an FtM because he's just a "woman" to them. They wouldn't hit a "girl." Unless they're a skinhead. But skinheads will hit anyone for any reason.

Jack Daniels

Yeah, now this "friend" is terreified of goin in the mens restroom. THey were all like" If you wanna be a man, then you can take it(refering to fighting) like a man, too. Ill show you what its really like to be a man. ...ect." Of course this Drama queen overaggerates everything, I dont think it was actual death threats, but the guys in the restroom did say they would kick his ass if he went in there again. Maybe its just high school...

Mister

Men don't care, period.  You go in, you pee, you leave.  Handwashing? Optional.

More often that not, I sit to pee.  I've never been questioned as to why I'm sitting even in a stall without a door.  If I am ever asked, I'll say I have a PA and must sit or else.

Yeah.  Tell that to Brandon Teena.  (Though, in all fairness, there was also jealousy about a girl mixed up in that tragedy.  It wasn't just about him being trans.)

Arch, you already go to the mens, right? Its seems more comfatable anyways since the ladies freak, but sometimes its entertaining. I think in the course of one day, I will switch to the mens.

Elwood, although Im stuck in the middle in public(at least I think so), Im also stuck romantically. God, I hate these parts of my body that were forced upon me at birth. And I vow to never use them whatsoever in any way possible, and denial of those abonimal parts has kept me alive so far ...well denial and Jack Daniels.

Devious xen, you should probably present as a girl to classes like your friend said. And you at your picture you already look like a girl. I cant see you going to a male rest room...Its pressure, but it will be worth it in the long run, so you dont have to do it later.

Meh. If someone wants to beat the crap out of me, I'll let them. But fighting me is a bore. It's like beating a small child. I'm defenseless. But I'll fight anyway.

I think I would get similar reactions in high school. High school is NOT a safe place to be trans.
