Question for women: Boyfriend wearing large earrings

A question for women: How would you react if your boyfriend showed up on a date wearing large earrings, with the rest of his outfit looking fairly male or androgynous?

I'm asking because I never know when is the right time to bring this type of thing up in a relationship and sometimes I think this is the best way. You could probably substitute "large earrings" for another type of typically obviously womanly apparel.

This is screwing it all up. You're FTM, she's MTF wearing big earrings and you like the fantasy. It's hard to know how to judge the situation.
