A question for women: How would you react if your boyfriend showed up on a date wearing large earrings, with the rest of his outfit looking fairly male or androgynous?

I'm asking because I never know when is the right time to bring this type of thing up in a relationship and sometimes I think this is the best way. You could probably substitute "large earrings" for another type of typically obviously womanly apparel.
