Rick Warren: gays are immature and slutty

Despite his Mr. Rogers-like public persona, it is increasingly clear that Rick Warren is nothing less than professional anti-gay James Dobson in a cardigan sweater.

Check out this clip of Warren being interviewed by Ann Curry on the Today Show about his views on gay people:

Why did Obama select this ass?

Despite Warren's progressive image and focus on social issues, he is closely aligned with conservative evangelical viewpoints. On the eve of the 2004 presidential election, Warren sent an email[13] to the Saddleback Church congregation telling them that there were five non-negotiable issues that should determine their vote:

What does each candidate believe about abortion and protecting the lives of unborn children?
What does each candidate believe about using unborn babies for stem-cell harvesting?
What does each candidate believe about homosexual marriage?
What does each candidate believe about human cloning?
What does each candidate believe about euthanasia - the killing of elderly and invalids?
Warren has stated that homosexuality is not a natural way of life and thus not a human right, and should not be tolerated,[14] and that civil unions are not a civil right.[15] In a conversation with Sam Harris for Newsweek, Warren also spoke out against evolution and in favor of creationism, and compared atheists to Mao, Stalin and Pol Pot.[16] Asked about the difference between himself and Focus on the Family president James Dobson, Warren claimed that "it's a matter of tone."[17]

The question is can both Warren and gays compromise and live together?

I think that's a no - and they shouldn't even try.  Compromise isn't inherently a good thing.

Quotecompromise is impossible

I do not think so. If the church could accept homosexuality as being normal sexual behavior and gays would accept sexual behavior as a private thing both could get along.

And gays are having sex out on the streets?

That requires concessions from both sides.  Since it is highly unlikely that Warren, and those who believe as he does, will ever concede on anything for the LGBT community, compromise is impossible.

I think so too. Their core belief is that being gay (or trans, of course) is categorically wrong... there's no discussing it, really. They want gays not just not to marry, they want gays to stop being gay which we know is not possible or desirable for the people involved. I'm afraid the best thing we can achieve is an armed truce or a cold war :-/

Then let them fight to the death.

I'd prefer to see another word beginning with the letter F in place of the one you chose.

That is not exactly right, that is an extreme. What they have a problem with is public display of affection and being hit on is an embarrassment to them and their children that they hope will reproduce. Many people want their children to be a carbon copy of themselves and censor anything that might conflict with their ideas.

You want to see them flatulate to the death?  That's just nasty Rebis.

I hadn't thought of that. Now I'm embarrassed.  It is nasty.

And that's right or reasonable? Mature people, when they are hit on by someone they don't like, they just ignore it. They will get the message.

No it is an insult to have someone question your sexuality. I guess it is a culture thing that gays just do not get.

Eh.. grow up? Realize that being gay is not a germ that someone that hits on you can infect you with? Teach your children that there are different people who do different things in the world and that we aren't all little eggs lined up in a carton? Expand your horizons?

(Not "you" lisagurl, "you" them)

For the record, I've been hit on by several girls (as a girl) and I've never been offended even though I'm straight. Because I'm quite sure of who I am.

QuoteI'm sorry, but I don't agree with your statement, and this is why.  They aren't trying to make laws again PDAs.  They're trying to keep people from being employed, from marrying, and they even want to make private sexual acts illegal.  The key word in that is private.

No, people go to the extreme for things and settle for less. The facts are that many gays work along side the heterosexual people with no problems till one violates their trust and makes a pass at someone. Of course they are going to over react and shoot for the moon just as gays think it is alright to make the pass and think that it is not an insult worthy of dismissal. Compromise is the key.

That is not what they want to teach their children. They want their children to be like them. It is a big mistake to tell people what to teach their children, hence war.

The bigger mistake is to even have children

How can lesbians and gays take passes from straight people and not erupt in outcry then?

But the world is diverse,  that's just the truth. You're talking about tolerating intolerance, which as the oximoron-charged formulation suggests, it's not something that can fly.
