I've been looking high and low for some information on this.  What are your thoughts on training bras, or say using a sports bra early on?

Will this provide any benefits to me?

I read one article that said that it might provide some help in keeping the breasts growing towards the center of the chest as opposed to way out on the side.  I also read some conflicting data that said it could cut your growth down because it is restricting.

Anybody have some thoughts?

It won't hinder growth and as long as you don't wear one that's too small, it won't harm the tissue either. I'm not sure whether they provide any benefits for growth, but when sized right they help support small breasts and are easier to fit than underwire. It might be good to use a sports/training bra early on.

The growth to the outside is a function of the male rib cage.  A bra will have no effect on that.

Sadly the type of bra you use will have little to no effect on breast growth. One that is too tight is going to be very uncomfortable though.

I once saw a card that had a picture of a training bra on the outside and the quote on the inside said "What exactly is it supposed to train them to do?"

I wore training bras, sports bras, and bra shelf camis for quite a while before my transition.

They had no effect on my breast growth.  I wore them primarily for hiding/protecting my nipples which had become quite puffy and sensitive when they would rub against my shirts.

Also it helped hide my growth before I came out though I worried about my straps showing if I wore a shirt that was too thin.

The only thing that affects breast growth is time and hormones, I'm afraid.  We aren't made of silly putty after all.  :D

The "training bra" is about training the wearer to get used to a bra. It doesn't train the boobs at all. They pretty much have a good idea about how to go about growing, or not.

A training bra would be worthless for that. I have been wearing sports bras for a while. I get a size too small with no cups. It hurts after a while. But I'm doing to keep them mushed towards the center. I always lean forward as I'm putting them on so all the "breast material" gets into the front. Its like binding, and training. I'm not out yet.

Sports authority has really good ones. Academy does as well. Almost comfortable.

If the shoe fits, buy it in every color.

no benefits to either that I know of; I personally would just get fitted and size up as needed :-)
