I wonder if that is real!

I also heard of a surgery for editing voice resonance, removing part of the skin (think face lip) from the pharynx to tighten it, therefore reducing its circular dimension. this one is real :)

I find it weird most places say there are not surgeries to edit one's resonance.
That one is not as expensive as foot reduction too :D

Actually vocal surgery tightens the vocal cords so that the timbre of the voice is raised.  Nothing can be done for the resonance of the voice since that is a function of the structure of the larynx, chest cavity, and throat and nasal passages.

You can cut your resonance somewhat by lifting your larynx so it is higher in your throat as you speak.  That is one of the first steps in learning to feminize a voice.

Vocal surgery is still experimental and fraught with dangers.  Most learn to feminize their voice through training.

Calpernia Adams has a very good series of lessons on this.

And if there were a surgery that could reduce the size of my feet, I'd jump at it in a second!  I can't find any shoes to wear anywhere but online.

I said the voice resonance modification is real because I am in progress of speaking with a voice surgeon about it myself.

quote:
"The thyrohyoid elevation works on the shortness and this procedure if we went ahead would be to likely remove a strip of tissue from either side of the throat to effectively plicate and narrow the circular dimension."

It is pretty known that the major resonance chamber in the body is the pharynx, the rest don't do much as resonance chambers.

I also doubt that we need to work on more than the throat considering some amazing voices people can do even if they have very deep voices.

Fascinating.

I have not done a lot of research into vocal surgery.  Other than to find out that it is difficult and the results have not necessarily been satisfactory.  I spoke with one lady who was unable to speak above a hoarse whisper as a result of her surgery.

From that point on, I concentrated on voice training and have not followed the progress that may have occurred in the intervening time.

Please keep us posted on your progress.  And perhaps you could write an article for the wiki as well.

Thanks!

I doubt if I will go through it any time this year!
I am afraid of going through any voice surgery and my friends told me I don't need it.
but my awareness of what I am doing is psychologically devastating:X

but working on the proceure sounds fun!

Regarding "voice" surgery, keep in mind that a surgeon who would perform that procedure will of course tell you it works.  It's how they earn their living.

I know this started as kind of a joke, but you can get your feet shortened a bit surgically.

Just so you know.

There is a form of surgery that might shorten your feet, but it is only performed on those people with completely pronated feet and no arch. The downtime is four months and it is in no way cosmetic. The point is to avoid living in a wheelchair if the tendom totally stretches out. I doubt if any surgeon could do this on a normal foot just to make it smaller.
