Well the first piercings went great. No problems  :)

The second piercings have been nothing but problems  :P They just didn't want to cooperate and would crack and bleed and the earlobes kept trying to grow over the studs  :P

Finally they are starting to heal and look and feel right  :) But oh what a wrestling match  :P

I have 3 in my left ear and 2 in my right. One on the left is a cartilage pierce and after 2 months still hurts though it isn't infected.  I want it to heal up so I can get my final two piercings! the second piercing i got on the right ended up getting slightly infected and hurt like hell for a while but with proper maintenance they finally healed up.

btw, i twist them every so often (gently) to make sure the skin isn't getting to attached to the post.

Yes, I do the stud turning thing. I rather enjoy that

But what they were doing is the earlobes would suck the studs down into the piercing and then try to grow over the studs while I slept  :P

So then I would have to pop the studs out in the morning and clean up the mucky stuff and blood  :P

Now that the hole was enlarged I'd have to keep popping the studs out throughout the day

They finally stopped doing that and are looking normal  :) Yeah!!!

I hope your piecings will heal soon. But I understand that cartilage piercings take longer

If there's a Sally's near you try picking up a pair of "sleepers" and switch the posts out for them - they're small closed hoops that do a brilliant job of letting a piercing heal properly

(edit mine)

Yes, they do.

I've got a handful of piercings in each ear.  I don't regret it in any way, shape or form.  Love it and would never do different.  But that's just me.  Some love piercing, some hate it.

Thank You for the link Katie  ;D

I'm noticing that when I use the Hydrogen Peroxide first and then the alcohol, Not only do I like the bubbly fizzy sounds of the peroxide, but the alcohol doesn't sting so much

I was going to suggest that also, My ears have been pierced 3 time on each side, and I have a couple of "other" through cartilage, I soaked a cotton ball with Peroxide, and soaked them, then as you did followed with an Alcohol wipes I got a box of 100 at the drug store, convenient. I got my first piercing in '72 then went through a major "piercing binge" in the 80's (I had 28 total at one time in places I won't mention, what was I thinking!) but now I'm down to just the ears and my nipples (1 each)

just keep them clean, and eventually you won't have to worry about them closing up.

I've found piercings to be kind of addicting, almost as bad as tattoos.   Its really bad if you start stretching them.   I currently have 6 piercings in my ears, including 5 that I've "retired", and my lobes are stretched to 5/8ths of an inch.  I can stick my finger through my ear, my favorite way to creep people out.  I've also  had my lip and nostril pierced, and want to get my lip redone as soon as I get a job (assuming its allowed).

I want really small gauges in both ears. Like just big enough so that the holes are visible. A 4 or 6.
Hardly online anymore. You can reach me at http://cosyoucantbuyahouseinheaven.tumblr.com/ask

I've seen some folks with various gauge ear decor.

Some look pretty cool, some I'm not too sure about. Like the one that had eyeballs (contact lenses applied to something) in their ears. Turned out they worked in an optometry lab

I've wanted to know what to call those piercings. Are the the ones where you gradually open a hole. I've seen some you put a finger through. How are they done? and how long does it take to get that large? Looks OK on some guys, I've never seen them on a girl though.

Jst a question, when you change 'rings do you wipe them down with alcohol or peroxide before putting them in? Partucularly when using cheapies.

Earlobe stretching is done by piercing, allowing it to heal, and then "stretching" the hole by inserting larger and larger pieces of jewelry.  It might be my age showing but I don't think it's very attractive at all.
You should always clean your ears, and the jewelry you're putting in

Katie got it right... Gaged or stretched ears are done gradually, starting from a standard (usally 18-20g) peircing.   I started stretching my ears about 6 years ago, going about a milimeter at a time, and always waited at least 2 months before going up another size, and have stayed at 5/8" for a couple years now.  It hurts a little everytime, but no worse than a new peircing.

OK, since we're talking about stretching the holes, I have a question.  (Please excuse me if I'm showing my age. :P)

If you don't put anything in a regualr piercing, it will close up and eventually heal over.  If you stretch it out, you're stuck with it for the rest of your life, right?  What happens when you get old?  I mean if you have breasts, they begin to sag.  If you have a pot belly, it begins to sag.  The skin on your face begins to sag.  Do these stretched holes begin to sag too?

Just curious. :)

If you don't put anything in a regualr piercing, it will close up and eventually heal over.

I went for about a decade without wearing earrings and they never closed up.  But yeah, I'm sure gravity would have some effect, but the mass is small enough (smaller than breasts or that beer belly) that it would have to be measured by a laser to find it.

But its going to be interesting to watch as these kids age.  I remember back when the tattoo deal first got going again in the 90s and this very cute girl was showing off her little butterfly there on her ever so cute derrière and my ex looked at it and said "You know that butterfly is going to look like Mothra by the time you're 40 don't you?"

And remember kids, most metal is toxic to humans so you need to use high density stuff like stainless steel, silver or gold for the posts (or plastic, which is not toxic in the same way, its carbon-based just like we are).  Besides, life it too short to wear cheap jewelry.

Which brings me to this joke, now that I'm being watched I know that everyone will pay attention to it, and remember I'm here through Sunday, tip your waitresses and try the veal.

So, this little girl goes by her parents bedroom and sees her mom down on her knees putting daddy's thing in her mouth.  So the next day she says to her mom, "I know that when man puts his penis into a woman's vagina that's where babies come from, but you had daddy's thing in your mouth last night."  And the mother told the little girl, "Well honey, that's were jewelry comes from."

When I was in Santa Cruz, Calif. there were people that would put all kinds of things in their piercings including animal bones

Try talking to someone with a bone in their nose and nearly no teeth who is giving you advise about stuff

I just figure that I listen to them very closely and then do my absolute best to do exactly and precisely the total opposite of what they recommended.

And you forgot the super smelly white person dreadlocks that the guy with the bone and no teeth also was sporting.

Q - How do you clear all the wookies from the streets of Santa Cruz?
A - Throw a bar of soap into the middle of them.
