I just had my GRS with Dr. McGinn a few weeks ago. I didn't decide until after the consult. I thought I was going with Bowers, but she was booked over a year out and her office recommended Dr. McGinn to me.
I know everyone raves about their surgeons, but Dr. McGinn is wonderful, so it's hard not to be a total fangirl. I'm still recovering, but I couldn't be happier with her surgical skills, and her bedside manner was fantastic. Also, it may have been the morphine, but I was terribly impressed when she showed up to check on me at 5am one morning all perky and with perfect makeup.
Anyway, my surgery and immediate post-operative period passed without a hitch. Now I'm knee-deep in "dilation hell". Dr. McGinn's dilation schedule is fairly intimidating, so be prepared. It's 6x a day, which basically means every 3 hours from 9am to 12pm for the first 8 weeks.
Oh, another thing is -- if you're planning your surgery in Pennsylvania, Lower Bucks Hospital is not the prettiest hospital around, but the nursing staff is great. Just bring lots of reading material, or a laptop to watch DVDs. You'll spend a lot of time on your back with nothing to do, unless you bring a friend or family member along (that's what I did). The rooms have little televisions on adjustable booms, but the screens are tiny and have no DVD players or A/V plugs.
